"Buffy vs. Edward" Fights Like a Slayer for Votes Before Webby Awards Deadline

The Twilight series is full of angst about vampire love, but the popular video remix "Buffy vs. Edward" offers a brilliant solution to Bella's dilemmas about her tortured feelings for Edward. Buffy doesn't feel conflicted about Edward: He's a vampire, Buffy slays vampires. Done and done.
"Buffy vs. Edward" is currently in third place for a People's Voice Webby Award in the Video Remix & Mashup category. Jonathon McIntosh's piece has vocal support because it pulls on two fierce fan bases, and the remix is an amalgam of everything that's right about web entertainment.
Two iconic characters from opposite sides of the same vampire genre, joined in a fan fiction story that transcends time, media outlets, generations, the laws of nature and copyright ownership, mashed into a well-edited piece that both celebrates and skewers both canons? Metalicious awesomesauce!
Billed as "The Oscars of the Internet," The Webby Awards are presented each year by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Categories include Web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile, with many specific awards hosted in each of those categories. One winner in each award slot is chosen by the Academy, and one People's Voice winner in each slot is selected by the public.
Feminist pop culture analysis site Feminist Frequency is among fans rallying viewers to vote "Buffy vs. Edward" into the lead before the April 29 deadline:
"Did you get a chance to see "Buffy vs Edward: Twilight remixed?" It was recently nominated for a Webby! And it might be the only feminist anything that is nominated at all this year, which is why I think it's so important that it wins the people's choice award for best remix/mashup video! Currently it's only in third place and it needs a big boost of votes to bring it to first."
If you want to help put a stake through the competition, you can vote for "Buffy vs. Edward" on the People's Voice YouTube page. Current first-place holder is Auto-Tune the News, which is well worth a viewing, but my vote is going to Buffy.
What about you? Are you tracking other Webby People's Voice award categories?
