[Editor's Note: Following on the heels of this week's Pickling Party comes the first National Can-It-Forward Day, an event that will celebrate all of summer's preservation efforts. This event will feature live-streamed canning demos from Seattle's Pike Place Market to help those new to canning (or even veterans looking for some pointers) achieve preservation success. In honor of the event, Tracy of Sugarcrafter has declared it to be Canning Week on her blog, and she kicked off the celebration with this lovely recipe for raspberry-cherry jam and a few tips of her own. --Genie]

Raspberry-Cherry Jam and National Can-It-Forward Day

Lucky for those of us who aren’t in Seattle, they’ll also be streaming the day’s events online, with a live Q&A so that you can ask expert canners your questions as you can your creations, every step of the way. As a seasoned canner, I’m looking forward to picking up some tips and tricks from others! And, I’ll be posting canning recipes this week, with a step-by-step tutorial for canning relish on Saturday for the actual event.

Looks delicious...just waiting for wild plums to ripen.

Great idea--a Can-It-Forward day. I made my jam last weekend-14 jars of blueberry, strawberry, and cranberry/orange.

Canning is something I've wanted to try to do, but the whole process scares me a little. I have a bunch of jars just sitting there.

I've already helped make jelly and jam this summer. http://averagejane.blogs.com/average_jane/2011/07/...
