On Jan 12, There was an Earthquake, the lives of the the people of Haiti are now changed, Forever!

My life is changed, and I don't live in Haiti. My life is changed by what I've seen, what I've done. The people are amazing & inspire me to do more, even now that I am at home. I have a nice home, a comfortable bed, running water & indoor plumbing, and lots of creature comforts. I am not living in a tent, it is not the rainy season, or hurricane season here.

When I thought about things I could do to help from home, I initially was at a loss. Then was barraged by people wanting to know what did I see there? What was it like? What could they do? I decided to keep info about Haiti out there. I will keep talking abut it, praying for them, showing my pictures, Tweeting, Facebooking and Blogging!

I know there are people out there who are tired of hearing it. So what! The people of Haiti are tired of living in sheets houses, with no protection from the elements, not enough food, no clean water, etc...

Everyone can DO something, I for one plan on keeping Haiti "In People's face". To keep reminding them that before the Earthquake, Haiti was the poorest country in the western hemisphere. I will let people know more than 50% of the population are Kids! Or how about this starling statistic: One in every 3 babies in Haiti, doesn't live to see her first birthday. Sadly, prior to the earthquake many people had never seen a Doctor.

So, when I remind you of how spoiled we are, find a way to make a difference. Pass on that Starbucks a couple times and give the savings to charity. Go serve food at a local soup kitchen. Donate all of that extra clothing to Goodwill. Help Habitat for Humanity build a house in your community. Yes people charity begins at home, but it took the people of Haiti to teach me.Get out there and do some GOOD!

Peace, Hugs & Blessings Sondra
