Sometimes I write a post that reminds me of one I wrote years ago and I link to that too!

I do the same. Some of my posts are definitely written in a serial format and when so I link to the others in the series.

Depends on the post. I usually assume but sometimes not.

A little bit of both. When referencing a previous post I link back to it in case someone isn't familiar w/previous post. Most stand alone.
