Child Friendly Wedding Venues

Weddings are a family affair. Unless you are having a black-tie affair, you should expect to have children at the wedding. Sadly, over the past few decades, weddings that have become more elaborate, expensive and lengthy have excluded children from joining the celebration. If you do want to have kids at your wedding, here are a couple of things you should ask yourself before choosing the venue:

Is it safe for children?

There are a lot of beautiful wedding venues that are quite hazardous for children. Places near busy roads, ones that have steep staircases or venues close to unsupervised lakes are not ones that can make the list. However, if you do find a perfect location with a few dangers, you can always ask management if they have temporary measures that can make the area a bit more child-friendly.

Does the venue cater to children?

You will need a venue with facilities that can cater to children. High chairs, small cutlery, toddler tables and the like are only some of the things you should look out for.

Are there activities for children?

An area with a playground, a play room or a place where children can run around and have fun is always great. A fun and safe play area can keep children occupied while their parents enjoy the rest of the reception.

Choosing the venue for your wedding can be difficult if you don't know how to narrow-down your choices. Create a checklist of things that you want for your wedding, and consider venues that are child-friendly. Here is a short list of kid-friendly wedding venues:

1. Country Club

The great thing about country clubs is that there are a lot of activities for children. Most country clubs have exclusive rooms for kids or a playground. Find out if the country club nearest your home offers a nanny service so that you can have a responsible adult watch the kids during the wedding while their parents socialize.

2. Hotel

Hotels with large ballrooms offer a lot of room for children to run around in. Choose a venue preferable on the ground floor next to a garden. A lot of hotels also offer nanny services. Have an area designated for kids or a "cousins table" where they can draw, paint or engage in other activities.

3. Park or Garden

Gardens are a wonderful venue for weddings, they also offer a lot of room for kids. Choose a beautiful garden with a playground or one with a lot of room for kids to play. You can set up a nice picnic blanket for the little ones and supply each child with a bottle of bubbles for more fun. These things also make great photo opportunities.

4. Beach

Kids love going to the beach. Smaller children can sit by their mothers' feet on the sand during the ceremony. To keep them occupied throughout the reception, consider supplying some older children with disposable cameras, of course you will also have professional photographers. The kids can take nice photographs of the view and you'll be surprised as to how wonderful some of the pictures will turn out. You'll get some great pictures and the children will feel like they are really part of the reception.
