C.J.'s Mom

C.J.'s Mom (aka Lori Duron) is the mother of two sons, the youngest of which is gender nonconforming. As C.J. explains it, he is “a boy who only likes girl things and wants to be treated like a girl.” Statistically speaking, because he has been gender nonconforming for more than half of his life, C.J. has a 75 percent chance of being a member of the LGBTQ community as an adult. C.J.'s Mom started her blog, RaisingMyRainbow.com, in 2011. It was the first “Mommy Blog” to chronicle the daily joys, struggles and, sometimes, embarrassments of raising a gender creative child. She has more than one million readers in nearly 180 countries and her work is the most successfully syndicated content on Queerty.com, one of the leading online news sites for the LGBTQ community. Her blog is also read by gender studies students and faculty at more than 50 college and universities in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.

C.J.'s Mom is an often-quoted source on parenting gender nonconforming and prehomosexual children. Media interest and coverage includes: Anderson Cooper, The BBC, The Orange County Register, KFI 640 AM, CBS – Los Angeles, MSNBC, The New York Times, Hello Giggles, The Next Family, Bitch Magazine, Newsweek, BlogHer, The Mother Company, The Globe and Mail, Babble and Jezebel.

She has been named one of BlogHer’s 2011 Voices of the Year, one of Ignite Social Media’s “100 Women Bloggers You Should be Reading,” one of Circle Of Moms' "Top 25 SoCal Moms" and one of Parents Magazine's top three blogs "Most Likely To Inspire You To Change The World."

A book based on her blog is being released by Random House on September 3, 2013.
