Remember These? Retro Thanksgiving Sitcom Episodes!

BlogHer Original Post

WKRP: When I began researching episodes to spur my memory, I kept hearing about WKRP in Cincinnati and their “Turkey’s Away” episode from 1978. Though I wasn’t born yet when this show aired, I knew there had to be something to it as so many deemed it as the funniest Thanksgiving episode ever.  After checking it out on YouTube, I 100% agree. You see, the station manager Mr. Carlson thought a fun Thanksgiving promotion would be the bees knees. So he gathers 20 turkeys to supposedly float down from the sky, however, as some of these turkeys plummeted to the ground, havoc ensued, even after the manager tried to let the rest of the turkeys free. The ending line of this episode seals the deal on the hilarity. Carlson says, “As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”

There are so many funny and memorable Thanksgiving Day episodes beyond the ones I’ve listed. What are some of your classic favorite Thanksgiving episodes? What about newer shows? Can you predict any fresh ones that will go down in TV history?
