Closing Keynote with award-winning director of Selma, Ava DuVernay and Melissa Silverstein, founder and editor of Women and Hollywood

Ava DuVernay, the award-winning director of Selma, will be the closing keynote speaker at #BlogHer15! Ava will sit down with Melissa Silverstein, founder and editor of Women and Hollywood, in a fireside chat on Saturday afternoon to discuss DuVernay’s work (and experiences) at the intersection of race, gender, art, and history. You can expect her to talk about her initial transition from film publicist to groundbreaking film director, the making (and social media promotion) of Selma, her film account of the historic 1965 voting rights campaign led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., her work to bring other African American filmmakers along with her into the mainstream, and her upcoming work as she adds TV (and perhaps even superhero action films) to her resume.

PLUS: 10x10 Project: Teneshia Jackson Warner will share a 10-minute exploration of the #DefiningMoments that led her to where she is today. The 10x10 presentations are designed to inspire you to go bigger, dig deeper, and confidently be your best self.
