Commence Much Screaming...and Some Crying

On Thanksgiving, we had a little gift to give to my parents. Hops and I had a plan that he would get the video camera ready (aka: the point and shoot camera in video mode) and he would secretly video tape Mom while she opened it. This did not happen. I got really excited and all of the sudden said, "Oh Mom! We have a gift for you!" Hops looked at me, jumped up from his seat and started trying to find the video icon on his phone. I think he finally found the camera but I am pretty sure all of the pictures are blurry from fast movements. :) We have no video of the screaming, but I tell you what, if we did? It would so get picked to go on America's Funniest Home Videos.

I handed Mom a little yellow bag that had this guy inside of it (the bear was inside the blanket when she opened it):

Isn't he cute? Well, she thought I was giving her a "congratulations on being a Grandparent" gift. My brother's wife gave birth about 4 weeks ago and she is still on her "I'm a Grandma" high. I told her to inspect the gift a little further. As the crafter that I try to be, I had to doll it up a little bit to help her understand. Inside of the stork's blanket was this:

Mom looked at it and I saw her smile. Then I saw her face change juuust a bit. I wasn't sure what she was thinking at the time but she told me later she thought I got Linden (my nephew)'s due date wrong. Then she read the 2012. It took a few more seconds and then, the screaming started. She screamed at least four times. Really. Loudly. My mother is not a screamer, so this really threw me. She took the gift over to my Dad and showed it to him. She was having a hard time concentrating but she finally read out the heart to him. Dad started crying. There were hugs all around and then lots of discussion about it all. There were then phone calls to Aunts, Uncles, Gram and my brother. It was a fantastic way to start our Thanksgiving Day. Even better - she had no idea! I don't know how we did it but Hops and I kept that secret from my parents for 11 weeks and 5 days. Job well done, sir.

Home Sweet Hopkins is expanding by 1! Baby H is due on June 9th, 2012. Or, as I like to write it, 6.9.12. We should come up with a good nickname for him or her that has something to do with being divisible by 3 but neither of us have come up with it yet. I'm 12 weeks, 5 days along and so excited to share this journey with all of you. My next 10 or so posts were all written in the past 2 months. I kept a blog that I wanted to update weekly, but I sure did a good job of forgetting some months. Now that my energy is back, I'm excited to get back to my more regular blogging days again!
