Comparison Voice No More

"Comparison is the thief of joy". -Theodore Roosevelt

The above quote stopped me short as I was reading it on another blog site because literally in the moment of finding it I was thinking "the person who designed this image has nicer web stuff than I do".

Immediate comprehension - the realization that any insecurity or feelings of not being good enough can be instantly taken away when the comparison of our own experience to that of others or things ceases.

As a result, I have decided to stop (at least try really hard to!) and see where my joy takes me. To help I have written an affirmation as a reminder of what can be when there is more room for the joy and less for comparison.

You can use it too - go ahead - I dare you!

Repeat after me:

On my honor I will try to stop my comparison voice before it starts so that I may enjoy all the experiences that are presented before me. As my comparison voice ceases I will begin to see the wealth of my soul and any bitterness about who and what I am will fade thus creating a new found light within me that lifts me higher and helps me achieve all that I strive towards. The space in which my comparison voice once took up real estate shall open up within my heart and soul to allow more goodness in and more laughter around me. Negativity and self doubt shall pack their bags and take their walking papers. Joy will be ever present and I will be satisfied because there will be nothing left telling me that I am not good enough anymore.
