People don't commit to the craziness of NaBloPoMo for the prizes any more than people commit to running a marathon for the cool t-shirt. You join NaBloPoMo for the glory! For the writing skills improvement! For the community! Okay, but let's all admit it, the prizes are pretty damn cool.

Tomorrow, the blogroll closes and the prize drawing begins. People have complained about the numbered list this year, but it's somewhat impossible to do categories and use the random number generator. Each night, we'll enter the final participant number (after we comb the blogroll for duplicate entries) and have it spit out a winner. I'll be checking that winner's blog to make sure they're actually blogging daily, and then email them to let them know that they've won one of the fantastic prizes. What are the prizes?

  • Monday – BlogHer ’12 conference pass
  • Tuesday – Books from Penguin
  • Wednesday – $50 Visa gift card
  • Thursday – Books from Penguin

When I email you as a winner, I will send a document that you need to sign and fax back before we can distribute your prize. And then the whole thing starts all over the next day. Every day is a prize for the month of November, which means we're actually choosing 5 winners on the 5th after the blogroll closes to make up for lost time while the blogroll was in flux.

These prizes are just a thank you for participating in this big blogging celebration; for writing for writing's sake and doing it as a community. You deserve to be celebrated and showered with gifts for taking on the task of daily blogging.

You can access a complete copy of the official NaBloPoMo prize rules right here.

I precisely wanted to thank you very much again. I’m not certain what I would’ve used without the type of tips shown by you regarding this area of interest. It actually was the troublesome concern in my circumstances, but seeing your professional technique you managed the issue forced me to cry for delight.

I actually like not having the categories. It's hard for me to pick just one for my blog since I blog a little of everything.

Very exciting! Will you also be listing the prizes winners somewhere each day going forward? I am also crossing my fingers for a BlogHer Conference 2012 pass! :)

Sure the prizes aren't the main reason, but they give an extra incentive. Sometimes an extra incentive is just what you need to keep you motivated. Right now I need motivation for a new post idea for Monday

For more on Chris and her writing go to http://TheWriteChris.blogspot.com. There you will find weekly interviews with other authors and her experiences with writing.

Tried to get on the blogroll (didn't know about it on the 4th when I started) today on the 5th, but I couldn't get on. What the hey! Oh well, I will just try to keep writing my stuff...

Hi Melissa,

How can I email you or send you a private message? - I'm still finding my way around this site and can't seem to figure that out!

My email is melissa.ford@blogher.com. Did you also read the newsletter this week? It walked you through where everything was on the new site along with links.
