Whether or not you're in LA at #BlogHer16 on August 4-6, you'll want to keep up on social media. Here's where to find us! We’re sharing info, videos, and pictures all during the conference at @BlogHer and @SheKnows on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Periscope, and SnapChat.
Making healthy food choices means taking a close look at your current eating habits – and making small changes that can add up to new habits and better nutrition.
Why is it so hard to make healthy food choices? It’s not as if you don’t know which foods are healthy and which ones aren’t. But sometimes it’s difficult to make the right food choices when you’re constantly faced with temptation or when you don’t have a plan.
Some people are totally cool walking into a situation where they know no one, and then there are the rest of us. If you are wondering what you've gotten yourself into by signing up for #BlogHer16 on your own, keep reading. These are my best tips for finding your tribe at the conference. (Or, at the very least, a blogger or two to hang out with at the Expo.)
Ask Before You Leave
The announcements keep coming, and today I'm excited to let you know about a special kick-off conversation called Wine & Gyn that we'll be holding on Thursday afternoon right before the Evening at the Expo at #BlogHer16. ...more
Several years ago, I found myself attending a conference where I knew absolutely no one. While my objective was to grow outside of my comfortable circle of blogging friends, I had failed to realize that this would leave me with quite a dilemma when it came to my hotel arrangements.
Did I pay for a solo room or attempt to find a roommate out of the dozens of strangers who also found themselves in this predicament?
I'm thrilled to finally be able to announce our closing keynote at #BlogHer16, taking place late Saturday afternoon. We're tackling what it means to use your platform to speak out on the principles you support, specifically intersectional feminism, especially when you're in the glare of the spotlight. I expect some of our attendees have felt that heat ... whether within your own family or in very public (online) spaces. ...more
The best part of the #BlogHer16 conference is all the new online content creators you'll meet. The most overwhelming part of the #BlogHer16 conference is all of the new online content creators you'll meet. It's a good conundrum, because there are important things you can do to make sure those new connections actually mean something.
You know what I mean?
Were you watching the Democratic National Convention last night?I was. And while history was indeed made (and I may have been chopping onions at the time, I admit), I think it's uncontroversial to say that the most powerful moment came when the Mothers of the Movement took the stage to talk about their unasked-for initiation into that movement: the loss of a child to gun violence....more
In just a couple of weeks, some of the world’s most influential people will flock to Los Angeles for #BlogHer16. Whenever you get a bunch of social media folks in one place, you can expect to see a lot of tweeting, snapping, and posting. Every moment is an opportunity to get a good picture or video. Since social media is such an integral part of our lives, it can be easy to forget that not everyone uses it in the same way....more
In the weeks leading up to our annual conference, people often ask others to name their favorite part of the BlogHer conference experience. Naturally there are many different answers (Voices of the Year, also known as VOTY, comes up a lot!), and to be completely honest, I am personally unable to choose only one favorite thing.
But one activity that makes my list every year (in addition to VOTY!) is the Evening at the Expo.
