BlogHer '11 is this week and with so much brainy estrogen in one place ... it can be overwhelming. This marks my fifth year attending and I've learned a few things that might help anyone looking forward with excitement and trepidation. The biggest surprise for me is always getting in touch with my inner wallflower. I'm a ballsy, brash, opinionated woman but folded with thousands of other ballsy, brash opinionated women, well, we tend to cancel each other out sometimes. So, I had to suck it up, dive in and pretend like I was cool too, and guess what? Nobody knew the difference.
In a few short days we'll be seeing all of you in sunny San Diego for BlogHer ’11. This year we're introducing the first ever Evening at the Expo on Thursday August 4th from 6-8PM.
We actually created this evening in response to the pleas of attendees who really wanted to check out the Expo, but didn't want to miss out on sessions to do so. So we created this two-hour slot when nothing else is going on, where our attention can be dedicated solely to checking out the almost 100 exhibitors!
Every year BlogHer conference attendees ask what to expect during conference sessions. Sometimes because for many attendees, BlogHer is their first conference, but also because BlogHer events tend to be a little different than traditional conferences and seminars that many of our attendees have experienced. Our session format is typically very interactive, and our moderators hold different roles than some expect. Let me break it down:
Our blogs can be tremendous vehicles for life change -– whether we're trying to effect it, document it, or heal from its aftermath. This Change Yourself track explores how our blogs can trigger or support personal transformation. Want to grow? Join in to these conversations...more

This year, we have added a new track of programming to the schedule, comprised of sessions brought to you by our sponsors. While we have, for years, eschewed a "pay for play" approach to session programming, and have therefore avoided pitching or "shilling" from the BlogHer stage, we also know that the top companies in the world sponsor BlogHer...and that top companies often are doing top research and can share top insights....more
BlogHers are a creative, generous bunch, so it’s no wonder that when we put out the call for Room of Your Own ideas, you gave us much more than an arsenal of your best ideas… you were also the catalyst for creating an entirely new track: Experience....more
Last week BlogHer was proud to announce that PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi would be our lunchtime keynote on day two of BlogHer '11, next week in San Diego.Three years ago I attended Maria Shriver's Women's Conference in Long Beach and was unexpectedly captivated by the morning keynote: Journalist Campbell Brown interviewing former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi....more
This conference track is designed to explore the power social media gives us to change our communities, society, the culture, the political landscape and more–always a staple of BlogHer conferences. This year, perhaps saving our strength for next year's election year focus on partisan politics, we're focusing more on our society, including Internet culture itself....more
