Confirmed: It's a Royal Baby for Kate and Will!

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is officially pregnant! And, oh goodness, she is also royally sick. The news is that Kate has been admitted with hyperemesis gravidarum, which is severe "morning sickness." Except it's all-day sickness. Repeatedly. To the point that hospitalization, fluids and medication are often needed. It's not fun.
My morning sickness wasn't that severe. I didn't require hospitalization, but I did require my husband to stop making eggs for about 11 weeks. I threw up at least once a day for 13 weeks, losing 11 pounds. My husband was going through this weird "eggs and coffee for breakfast" phase. I had to stay in our room until he aired out the house, and sometimes I would still vomit. To know that what I experienced isn't even remotely close to what those experiencing hyperemesis gravidarum go through makes me want to hand Kate some crackers and hold her hair back as she struggles through the early phases of her pregnancy.
In May, we featured a post by one of our members about hyperemesis gravidarum, and I think it's important to quote a small piece right here.
No, I do not need your pity; I need those who have never had HG to realize that we are not just dealing with a bad case of morning sickness. That every pregnancy IS different, and I don’t expect you to understand what we are going through, but don’t be ignorant and just think we are whiny princesses because we can’t “deal” with the nausea and/or vomiting.
It's important for us to realize that this is a severe pregnancy-induced illness, not just a little sickness that an expectant mom can just "get over." I hope that Kate is able to find the help and the comfort she needs during this time!

If you experienced hyperemesis gravidarum, share your story. Let Kate and other moms know they aren't alone.
And finally: Congrats to Will and Kate!
