Ever get an idea spur of the moment and just run with? I get a lot of those.
Last week, I got the idea to help out a Twitter pal by doing a fundraiser on my blog Living on (Less Than) a Dime in order to get her a bread machine that had a gluten-free cycle.
It took a day. Actually, less than that. About 20 hours or so.
After that, I wanted to do more, for more people. Wasn't entirely sure how, so I started brainstorming.
That's when Connecting2Give was born. Well, when the idea was first born, it was called Project 2 Point Give, but I like Connecting2Give better.
Got the domain, installed WordPress, and put the call out for people to submit their needs, and their gives.
Within just a couple of days, we had four featured needs, two featured gives, and a big give in the works.
So, what are needs? Anything that a person might need or want for any purpose. It might be training, mentorship, someone to talk to, some gently used clothes or toys, financial donations, you name it, we're willing to consider it and post a need request for you.
Gives are things that people are willing to give, for free, to anyone that might need them. We've had offers of an entire collection of CDs and tapes from a professional storyteller, a book on starting a virtual assistant business, and even jewelry. We've had those with needs offer a shoulder to cry on and an understanding ear to listen.
People want to give, and it's just amazing to see.
