Convincing Teens to Embrace Green Living
By Expressions by Jen on June 02, 2011
It's hard to convince teenagers to do much of anything. Change is hard enough for adults, who might be able to weigh the pros and cons and see the benefits at the end of it all. Teens need a bit more help from their parents. Jen from Expressions by Jen is going through this scenario as she tries to live a greener lifestyle with her teens. She has hope that they'll come around though.
Teaching my teens to go green is not as easy as one might think. We were (still are in some ways) pretty wasteful. They balked for so long about hand washing dishes and then hanging clothes on the line instead of using a dryer. Now it is about reducing our usage of paper towels to clean stuff up or dry hands and omg the world is ending because we are actually microwaving our sponges to kill the bacteria to reuse them. We won’t even go there about not using body wash, but strictly using the soap I make or now the homemade laundry soap. THE SKY IS FALLING! Yeah, that’s my kids. You have to sort of ease them into things when it comes to big changes. They don’t understand why we can’t just go on doing the same things we were doing, despite me explaining it to them 8 gazillion times.
