Cookbooks are an easy holiday gift. But oh, the choices, some times it's mind numbing. (Who's tried to buy mustard lately? The same situation.) Each year, there are hundreds of new cookbooks to consider, plus shelvesful of oldies-but-goodies. To cut through the Amazon reviews, to ferret out the best ideas, I asked my Twitter friends, mostly food bloggers, two questions. What cookbook will you give this year? What cookbook is on your own wishlist. It's a short list from people who live and breathe food and cookbooks.

TW from Retro-Food wants a copy of the much-hailed cookbook from blogger Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman Cooks. "I want the pioneer woman cookbook but my post office was stupid and sent me my postcard back so may never get it." (Hint, hint, anyone here at BlogHer?)

Elisa Camahort, one of BlogHer's three inspiring founders and a vegan evangelist, has already gifted The Joy of Vegan Baking. "I'm giving 1 friend The Joy of Vegan Baking. She's not vegan but she's always kind & makes vegan 4 me. This'll make it easier."

Lynda Balslev from Taste Food has the Blogger Aid Cookbook in mind. "Collection of recipes from bloggers worldwide. All profits go to UN World Food Program!"

Kelly from Celiac Chicks is excited about The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook from fellow blogger Elena Amsterdam who blogs at Elena's Pantry. "I've already given The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook as a gift to a non gluten-free person. They love it for the taste!"

Barbara from Winos & Foodies is getting The New Portugese Table from food authority David Leite from Leite's Culinaria. (Hey wait! How does she know?!)

Susan from FatFree Vegan Kitchen has her eye on Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Zoe Francois (and two others) who blogs at Zoe Bakes. "I've put Healthy Bread in 5 Minutes a Day on my Amazon wish list...hope my husband can figure out how to access it!"

Karen from FamilyStyle Food and Dinner with Julia names Momofuku for both giving and getting. "Momofuku on both counts - the food is original and it makes my mouth water; plus he tells a good story, F-words and all."

Karen from SassyMonkey has two ideas. "I'd give The Pioneer Woman Cooks. It's accessible. Yummy. Easy. I'd like Ratio: The Simple Codes Behind the Craft of Everyday Cooking from Michael Rulhman."

For giving, Sarah from Sarah's Cucina Bella recommends Barefoot Contessa At Home because "it's a great cookbook with a good selection of must-make recipes. She makes it easy." For herself, Sarah's holding out for Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries & Shakes, "I luv his food or 'Wichcraft, because I love Tom--I mean sandwiches."

And you?
And you, what cookbook are you giving this year? And which one is on your wishlist? Leave a recommendation in the comments!

BlogHer food editor Alanna Kellogg is bursting at the seams with new cookbooks but for giving, especially for grillers, recommends the cookbook Seven Fires which inspired Fire-Charred Tomatoes. Since reading this, we give all our best dishes a little 'burn'. Tis amazing!

I recently found a cookbook that will be able to serve as two fantatsic gifts for my familiy. My two younger cousins both have severe food allergies, so their mother is always on the hunt for food that doesn't taste horrible. Some of the gluten-free food out there is pretty gross. And my uncle changed his diet due to a battle with cancer in the hopes that eating mostly natural food with no perservatives or artificial additives will help with his fight. I met the author, Lisa Lundy, this fall and she seemed really knowledgable plus the pictures of the meals in the cookbook look wonderful! I'm really hoping it works for these hard-to-buy for family members. The website is www.TheSuperAllergyCookbook.com ( http://www.TheSuperAllergyCookbook.com ) if anyone is interested.

One of the best cookbooks I ever received (it was a gift from my mother years ago) was Lorna Sass' Cooking Under Pressure.  Most of the recipes are absolutely delicious and fast.  Using my pressure cooker always cuts down on kitchen time and gives me more time with the kids!  I read that the 20th Anniversary edition ( http://www.amazon.com/Cooking-Under-Pressure-20th-... ) of this cookbook just came out- so I decided to buy it for my sister-in-law and one of my friends- both busy moms!

That the post office sent TW's postcard for Ree's book back to her because the exact same thing happened to me. I stuck it in an envelope and put it back in the mail and it worked. lol (I've been told the reason was that the sorting scanners in the post office picked up the handwritten address as the "to" address even though it was on the wrong side.)

We're (supposedly, it hasn't quite been started yet) making a recipe book for my MIL of our family favourites.

Mir, by suggesting a food blogger cookbook. They're well-represented in these recommendations!

My new favorite cookbook to give is Stephanie O'Dea's Make It Fast, Cook It Slow ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/1401310044/ ) based upon her A Year of Slow Cooking ( http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ ) blog. Not only is it the definitive guide to all things crock pot (way more than just roasts), Stephanie's writing is entertaining and many of her recipes are household favorites for us. Plus -- added bonus -- all of her recipes are either gluten-free or include a gluten-free adaptation, which is handy for those of us who need it. :)

Since you asked :) The one I give as much as I can is the one I wrote (!) It's called A Brides Cookbook or Surviving the First Year - and is full of easy, fast and healthy recipes, plus entertaining tips.
