Cooking is one of my passions and I got caught up watching Top Chef re runs, and it was the New Orleans Soul Food special, so there I was twisting and turning in bed from the mouth watering dishes I wished I could even smelled or even tasted but the frustration was terrible because I could only see what I didn’t have.
Then it came to me all the Soul Food reading I been doing about positive thinking and creative visualization, that WE create our own reality. So I got up from bed, walked to the market thinking of that Cool and the Gang song she’s so Fresh, tune that has been spinning in y head and in part motivating me to get up and cook my own Soulful meal.
When I get to the market I buy the fish, coconut milk and the produce I needed for less than $10.00 and I happily head on home singing my mantra motivational song. At this point I’m thinking of making a yellow curry coconut milk fish soup with rice on the side.
But when I got home I got this rush of energy that Iike to call happiness because my thoughts materialized, I no longer had to be Top Chefs expectator , I took matters into my hands and it was time for me to create, I was going to cook MY Soul Food. That meant that I was going to cook and had to share and it made me more excited to cook for more people with the limited resources I had. That had me thinking of this story of the Bible when Jesus fed a whole village fish and bread; the point is to want to share is when resources stretch.
To make the story short, I made the yellow curry soup, fish fillets with a special coconut sauce and rice and baked a small peach cake. We are eating delicious fish pasta with yellow curry coconut milk sauce. That means that we had a complete meal for two days and got to share it with the neighbor. All this was accomplished with mind power and the positive thinking and lots of love.
