Countdown to Christmas Finally Christmas Eve
By spendlesssavemore on December 24, 2012
Finally Christmas EveFor some this night is the start of Christmas for our family it’s filled with traditions. My husband insisting that the kids need more gifts. He’ll be back late with gifts I have to wrap last minute, but I must say he always helps to wrap and lay them under the tree and
of course I rearrange them because they don’t look pretty until I do. You know for that great normal Rockwell before picture of the light up tree with the
perfectly wrapped gifts under it.
Poor tree tomorrow it will be the scene of a five-minute unwrapping spree. It seems that the unwrapping occurs in a blink, but this Christmas is so much different for me because my children are getting older fast I of course am ageing slowly.
With my son going off to college next year he seems so grown up it just makes the traditions we hold dear even that more special. From the homemade stockings I made while going through chemo for him when he was just two to the blanket that I hand stitched and hand painted the stuffing coming from the baby blanket we brought him home from the hospital in. Yes, I made two one for both my children. I must say those two things are to my children one of the best Christmas traditions we have.
One other Christmas tradition I am so glad my daughter over the last three years insist upon is making a birthday cake for Jesus, because after all it’s his birthday. We bake decorate and write Happy Birthday Jesus on this cake as we set out candles and sing happy birthday to Jesus. This night I will remember that even if we didn’t get everything we want
under that tree it's not what's important.
My wish for you is that you remember what Christmas truly is about and take time to wish Jesus a Happy Birthday. Merry Christmas
