I randomly messaged a stranger on Facebook today. Have you ever done that and not been a stalker? It was a young woman who is a friend of a friend. She has been posting pictures and tagging my friends in them of things she makes with her Cricut. She made some adorable Easter buckets, wine glasses, key chains, signs, etc. She uses colored or patterned stick on vinyl and they all come out really cute. So cute that it got my creative juices flowing. I wanted to know what software she was using! She replied almost immediately and was so sweet to offer some great information. I'm glad I decided to message her, although knowing my friend I knew she had to be "good people" as my dad would say.
"I love to create things. I wish I had time to do more, and this week is slower for me so I have time to get all artsy craftsy for a while. I am so thankful for times like this...
I spent the better part of the morning downloading software and updating the firmware on my Cricut. I have the "original", so it isn't as fancy as some but it does the job for me. I love it. I've used it recently to create "wall words" for our home and I'm looking forward to creating more fun things with it very soon.
Addi's birthday is coming up soon and she is going to have a Minnie Mouse celebration! I am so excited I get to help create the birthday banner. I'm going to use red / white / black patterned papers to create the lettering and rounded backs for the banner. I found files to create the minnie mouse head and this new software let's me create just about whatever I want. I need to pickup a new mat but that is a small purchase and then I can get busy on the banner. SO EXCITED!!
I'm also busy working on vests for a friend's wedding. She is having a rainbow wedding (cool idea, eh?) and wants each vest a different color. None of the tux stores around town had enough colors, so we are making them instead. I have 5 of 7 cutout and ready to sew. Just another one of my projects I'm working on this week. I'm hoping to have at least 3 of them finished by Friday.
I tend to be very ambitious when it comes to my crafts / sewing. I am just waiting for the day I get my own embroidery machine. That is my dream purchase. Until then, I have a good friend that has offered me use of hers and my current machine does some of it's own fancy stitching / embroidery.
Oh and did I mention I'm going to be making the nursery stuff for my son's newest baby? I am super excited about that too, but I don't have any supplies yet to get started on it. I think that will happen closer to summer.
And of course, there are all the other things I am excited to work on. My digital scrapbooking, summer clothes for the girls, and a few things for myself. I also have a new project still in the works that I will be starting hopefully sooner than later.
Wow, you'd think all of this creativeness would be a full time job! I am pretty sure it could be, but in the midst of the crafts and sewing I have grandbabies, housework, ministry and many other things that take up my time.
I think it's time to get busy picking up around here. Hubby is working from home and watching the Ranger game this afternoon while I share all of this with you. It's a beautiful day, the sun is shining in and all the grandbabies are sleeping. But Life Group is tonight at our home, so I need to get this place ready. What a perfect afternoon.
