Truths from the chaos
Last night I figured a xanax or two flushed down the toilet and bottles of wine remained closed. At least until tonight or next weekend...
I know the subjects I have raised are ones that most do not want to think about and if mentioned choose to ignore....more
I can totally understand why the federal government would have trouble recommending a complete legalization of marijuana (it's a political nightmare), but it just seems blatantly irresponsible to announce that there is NO acceptable medical use for it. Are they kidding? From the LA Times – Federal Government Says Marijuana Has No Accepted Medical Use…...more
Once upon a time until about two-and-a-half months ago when I admitted publicly to my alcoholism and embraced sobriety, I drank so much on a regular basis that I blacked out two or three times a week and couldn't remember how I came home. So, what I am about to reveal here with regard to my thoughts on drugs, accessibility, and legalization might surprise you: I support the legalization of all drugs, or, at the very least, the decriminalization of possession and personal use.
Walking to the grocery store the other day, I watched as a man took a final drag off his cigarette and then threw it onto the sidewalk. Sights like that are so common, seldom do they even register in my brain....more

I am 21. I have been for one full week now. Today I find myself sitting at my father's house, watching One Tree Hill, eating spaghetti o's, and drinking an apple martini. And constantly missing my boyfriend. For some reason, I feel that this is a constant in my life. Welcome to the fabulous life of being 21....more
I met my current boyfriend in the end of 2006. I left him a little over a year later because he was abusing very serious perscription (but not perscribed to him) drugs, and because I didn't feel like he was good enough for me. I'm a grad student who's got a 3.8 GPA, I teach piano lessons, and basically I've got my life together. I'm a stong female and I'm going to go far in this world. My boyfriend is continues to claim that he will put himself into a community college. He can't hold a job. He's in debt up to his eyeballs. He has a serious criminal record....more
Instead of getting in line to buy a toaster oven at 4AM on this day after Thanksgiving, we slept in, had a leisurely breakfast with family and friends, and just returned from a peaceful stroll at the museum. Trust us, it was the perfect antidote to yesterday's chaos! It also reminded us about the simple pleasures we discuss in our upcoming book Bitches on a Budget, and about an exhibit we recently visited at the National Portrait Gallery....more
So you are probably wondering…..do the beverages I drink really make that much of a difference? They are only liquids, right? Liquids “go right through me” so how much of an ill effect can they have?
