March 3rd is Girls' Day in Japan. It is a day to celebrate your little girls and wish them happiness and growth for the coming year. You can read more about it here and here. Every year, the girls' Nana buys them each a hina, a princess doll, that we display in the house. The traditional dolls are porcelain and wear beautiful kimonos. They are displayed in enormous glass cases....more
Do you have a prayer request? A special need? Well, I spent all night placing a live webcam to Lourdes, France on my website, including a little mailbox to their prayer request email. All kinds of weird computer problems kept cropping up, and I kept offering them up as a prayer, which did help to keep me from being annoyed. Then...
This morning I got an email from a friend who told me that today is OUR LADY OF LOURDES FEAST DAY! Wow. I had no idea! That is just so cool...
I went to a birthday party honoring a serious transition -- a landmark, and even for a successful young mother with three kids, it had an impact. So what did her sweet husband do? He made her a present, with the help of his 5 year old son. I don't want to violate their privacy with a description; just know that it was something that only someone who knew her well, and loved her, could have given her....more
I decided to learn about and begin blogging for a couple of reasons. I need to keep my brain challenged by learning new things. I want to understand the challenges my daughter is facing as a parent in this constantly changing world where technology has created an entirely different environment for her to be parenting in than what I was faced with raising her and her sister. ...more
Lately, I've gotten several emails about putting your babies on a schedule like Brayden is. I thought it might be best if I answered you in a post in case anyone else was interested. I'm by no means an expert - this is just what worked for us and for Brayden. All babies are different and what works for B is just what works for B.I'm a stay at home mom....more
Dear Mr. Reid,The comments you made were despicable and dishonorable. To refer to Mr. Obama as having a better chance of winning the election, because he could basically stop sounding "Negro" at will is simply unbelievable. ...more

It’s a little late to be blogging about Christmas, I know. Something about the build up to Christmas means that even the very next day, it’s a stale subject. Old news. Anyhow, I didn’t have a chance to blog about Christmas on Christmas, so I’m making up for it now. This year was my first year spending Christmas in Portugal. My very first Christmas without snow! And boy was that ever weird....more
Now that we’ve passed the Winter Solstice and are wrapping up 2009, I’ve tried to put together a collection of my favorite“Best of 2009” series of Moomette’s Magnificents posts. While I’m a mom, I’m also a grandmom, wife, sister, and friend. I try to identify myself as a multi-generational blogger, and my blogging friends and readers are many. (Read More) Cindi...more
It’s pretty much a given - without the Lifetime and Hallmark networks - Christmas couldn’t exist. I’m not knocking those two - in fact I schedule my season in order to leave time to watch just about every Christmas movie. Most of them aren’t very good - by anybody’s movie standards - but they all end happily. Every single one of them. And this time of year that’s just fine with me. I like my holidays predictable.
