A note about Wednesday Tips and Websites: On each Wednesday I will be posting a website or two and some tips that pertain to the Monday post. Since this week is the blog launch and there is no legal topic presented, I decided to make my Wednesday post about blogs.
I just saw a story on ”Sunday Morning” about the man who founded Tom’s Shoes. His name isn’t Tom, it’s Blake Mycoskie. ”Tom’s” stands for “shoes for tomorrow.” Cameras followed Blake while he gave children their first-ever pair of shoes. I’ve always loved watching a man tie shoes for a child, and today’s show explained how that simple act represents much more.
Last night, I spoke to the Women’s Bar Association about why women should run for office. It reminded me that most women need to hear this. So, I wanted to bring my message to the BlogHer community.
To the women reading this post, you should run for office. Despite the increased number of women in Congress over the last few years, we need more. Of course, women face challenges when we run for office – and still face challenges just doing our jobs in the “boys club.”
I don't know how else to explain today. I have everybody coming at me at work and at home. I am in the middle of a tug of war with four hormonal teenagers and one clean freak husband. Somehow, Joy (my sister) and I have both entered professions dealing with children. I have taught special education in the same small town for many years and Joy works at a children's psychiatric facility. ...more
Do you have a prayer request? A special need? Well, I spent all night placing a live webcam to Lourdes, France on my website, including a little mailbox to their prayer request email. All kinds of weird computer problems kept cropping up, and I kept offering them up as a prayer, which did help to keep me from being annoyed. Then...
This morning I got an email from a friend who told me that today is OUR LADY OF LOURDES FEAST DAY! Wow. I had no idea! That is just so cool...
