I also think it would be smart for her campaign if she makes use of the mom-centric blogosphere to aid in her PR. John Edwards and his team seem to be blog savvy and his wife already is reaching out to mom bloggers. If Clinton truly is contemplating a Mom Strategy, I'm interested to see how she'll use the Internet to push it.

A mom for president is fine (as long as her kids are self-sufficient), a woman for president is brilliant, but not if that candidate is Hillary, no way. I want an old school *Democrat*, not someone as conservative as Hillary. She's pro-war, pro-big business--not what I this country needs right now, in my humble opinion.

Thanks for the post, I did not know about her book. I think it would be great to have a women president, but for now I just want a democrat in office.

I hope she's expanded her definition of stay-at-home-mothers as being more than women who just "stay home and bake cookies and have teas." Time will tell.

Will the Mom Strategy Work for Hillary?

Possible presidential hopeful Senator Hillary Clinton appeared on the television show The View last week to discuss Christmas traditions, crafts, her view of the war in Iraq, the difficulties of raising children in today's society, and the re-release of her decade-old book It Takes a Village.

When asked if she thought her experiences as a multitasking mom made her a good candidate for president, Senator Clinton responded, "We've never had a mother who ever ran or was elected president..."

Dick Morris & Eileen McGann of Vote.com don't think that Senator Clinton's statement was just an "interesting historical observation."

"Hillary doesn't work that way. She never says or does anything that hasn't been perfectly scripted and endlessly polled beforehand. She had a message, a new strategy to try out. So look for the new "Mom Strategy" to be the anchor of her presidential run.

Forget Soccer Moms and Security Moms; now it's going to be all Moms all the time -- with Hillary as the biggest Mom of all."

But is Senator Clinton really laying the foundation for a 2008 presidential run? Fausta of Fausta's blog writes, "you know she's running because she's wearing pink again." Blogger Pamela Geller Oshry of Atlas Shrugs isn't too keen on the idea of Hillary running for president. And of the idea that it takes a village to raise a child, she writes:

"It takes a village, my ass. I've got four kids, I do it all. If I left it to the village, they'd be smoking crack cocaine. My kingdom for a Jacksonian Democrat."

Is Clinton positioning herself as America's Mom with a "pro-peace, pro-family, pro-children" platform? I don't know, but if reviews of It Takes a Village start appearing on mommy blogs, I'll have my answer.

Do the American voters want a President Mom? It's too early to tell from a reading of the mom-centric blogosphere, which didn't provide much commentary I could find on Senator Clinton's appearance on The View. Only time will tell if Clinton truly is moving forward with a "Mom Strategy" and if it will prove to be her ticket to a playdate at the White House in 2008.
