A shrewd first post

Well, it looks like the first comment was posted by the wife of a soldier. The post opened up the themes on which Hillary will surely capitalize on: the issue of a woman President, supporting the troops, Iraq, ideas, and reaching the center of the political spectrum.

"Watch" the Conversation....

Marilyn, The way that this is working is that you go to her website and submit questions and then sign in tonight to "watch" the conversation live...I would imagine that it will be available to watch later on...

HillaryClinton

That 7 pm EST start time

That 7 pm EST start time kind of screws up those of us who have day jobs in the West, doesn't it? (Since many aren't off work by 4:00.) And Marianne, I agree--I suspect the key target of that "be the first blogger" idea is to collect blogger data.

Competence Double Standard

Kalyn,

She definitely has that working against her...and I don't think the over produced fireside chat video helps; she says she wants conversation and probably getting out and really having them will help overcome some of her baggage.

No predictions yet...just observations

Lisa, Good questions to ask and things to watch for!

I think this call for blog submissions is an effort to collect a data base of pro Hillary bloggers..have no idea how many submissions they will get.

John Edwards is doing something similar though not quite as "in your face" by using a blogroll/featured blogger approach: John Edwards Blog

At this point,Hillary's blog, and in all fairness, it is not up yet...it seems like a "talk the talk" more than a "walk the walk" but she also says, " Starting Monday, January 22, at 7 p.m. EST for three nights in a row, I'll sit down to answer your questions about how we can work together for a better future. And you can participate live at my website."

So, we will just have to wait and see what she does...

Marianne

Any predictions Marianne

on when they will post the first "guest post" or how many submissions they will get? And have they opened any part of the site to comments -- or is this more of an Op-ed page approach?

Great post - thanks!

Trying to be Hopeful

I heard Hillary speak several times when I was on the Board of Directors of the National Education Association. I was always impressed by her. When it began to be obvious that she was planning to run for president, I couldn't imagine how most men in America would ever accept her. She's just so darn competent, and in my (admittedly biased) opinion, a lot of men are threatened by women who seem too capable. (Maybe if she had acted a bit more needy when her husband publicly cheated on her, people would like her more. How sad.)

I'm trying to be hopeful, and I do love the way she's immediately reaching out to bloggers. Personally I'd love to see a Hillary/Edwards ticket.

Go fot it!

My cynical opinion is that they are seeking to collect a data base of bloggers more than anything else....

I can't see any reason for you not to provide a post...and lots of reasons why it makes sense, Chadie.

Is there an English translations of your post?

Is this invitation just for americans?

Do you think europeans have any chance to be the first to post in Hillary Clinton´s blog?
I think it would be a way to point out how important this issue is for us women around the whole world.
I have written about this in my blog, to the Swedish audience. There may be some trials to post from Sweden too.
Hillary to Bloggers: Write Our First Blog Post

Hillary Clinton announced two things this morning...the first that she is planning on winning the presidency in '08; the second is that she is going to be using social media to support that plan. Her first few words on the Hillary TV campaign video were about the conversation: "I am not just starting a campaign...I am starting a conversation with you..."

If there is still any doubt that she will be embracing social media, click on blog....
