That is such a wonderful story. It brought tears to my eyes, and all I could do was smile at how wonderful people can be. Thanks for sharing this Alanna.

Alanna, I just finished reading the post at A Finger in Every Pie. It just warmed my heart. Food, family, and memories are so inextricably linked, aren't they? Thank you for featuring such a beautiful story.

Oh my oh my -- I confess to getting misty as I read the article linked to your post. Taste-memories are deeply evocative. I would give half the world for my grandmother's wild mushroom soup recipe. I miss it every Christmas Eve. ~~ Contributing Editor, Mata H. also blogs relentlessly at Time's Fool

A Long-Lost Recipe, Never to be Published

Mostly, food bloggers share recipes. But there's one recipe that A Finger in Every Pie will never share.

There will be no recipe for Lisettes published here, now or ever. No matter how much I coveted being able to make these fabulous little cakes for myself, I would never even have asked, since it was clear to me that the recipe is a guarded family treasure.

But the story? the story's not to be forgotten.
