I have a feeling if I were to make a list there would be a few "collected works of" on it in addiction to a series or two.

Funnily enough, wrote about the World Book Day poll results, etc. on my blog a couple of weeks or so back. But instead of naming ten books that I can't live without, narrowed it down to just one:-

I've read 43 of them! Now I need to make a list of the others to keep for when I'm at the library and "uninspired".

Which ten books would I take:
Enchantment by Orson Scott Car
The Mars series (since the Guardian counted these as one) by Kim Stanley Robinsons
Time Enough for Love Robert Heinlein
Little Women (I am the 5th March girl afterall)
Take Bit Bites Linda Ellerbee
Fried Green Tomatoes
The Complete Sherlock Holmes

There are so many others that I haven't read yet and wouldn't wish to give up on.... they would finish filling the bag. But what should they be.

The list of 100 is very interesting. I've read much more than half of the list, but it was interesting to notice that I've read nearly all the more recent ones, but very few of the classics.

10 Books You Can't Live Without

What ten books can you not live without? Scary question. I flip-flop between wondering how on earth I could choose ten and how I could ever choose only ten. Why am I even contemplating such a question? Because Kailana put it in my head. You see, on World Book Day the Guardian Unlimited posted about the 100 books we can't live without. Kailana posted her list and then encouraged other to post theirs.

From Book-a-rama:

Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte): My favorite book. Jane is a heroine from the beginning. She stands up to her evil aunt, even though she is poor and plain. She grows into an intelligent woman who goes out into the world looking for her own happiness. When she thinks she has it, she has to decide if she'll compromise her morals and self-respect for it. She says no but ends up with her happy ending anyway.

Stepanie's Confession of a Book-a-holic hits on a childhood favourite of many women:

The Nancy Drew Series by Caroline Keene - This is the series that started my love of books. I was a sick child, in and out of the hospital when I was young. These books were my friends when I couldn't go outside and play. And they showed me that a girl can be strong and smart and fearless. Isn't that what good books are about? Inspiring others. Nancy Drew inspired ME!

Some bloggers, like Daphne at Tanzanite's Shelf and Stuff choose books because of the way that they made them think about reading.

The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. OK, I'll admit, this one is kind of an odd choice. But I choose it because it really sparked my interest in reading again ( after it's 10 year plus hibernation) and so it is important to me for that reason.

As for me? I think I'll go the way of Tempting Persephone's last item:

Gosh, I donâ€™t know! There are a million more! (Okay, well, maybe not a million. But there are a lot more!) This is just impossibleâ€¦
