Yes, in a way this is great

Yes, in a way this is great publicity strictly from a marketing point of view. It generates more interest in the book and gets people to check it out.

I point to posts which I think are provocative, thoughtful, present valid criticism or are unique in their perspective.

Everyone should (obviously) make up their own minds. I guess I don't say that enough around here, because I assume that's a given in blogland, but I'm emphasizing it now.

If you do a review Liz at your blog, do email me, I'd like to read it.

I haven't read any reviews by bloggers that disclose they were given a free copy to review.

Are you planning on reading it or have you read it and I've missed your review? I've been sort of hoping you would read it and review it. I like the "Sour Duck" commentary on things like this...

More on Jessica Valenti's book, "Full Frontal Feminism"

A couple of weeks ago, I published a collection of bloggers' reviews of Jessica Valenti's book, Full Frontal Feminism. Well, the conversation has moved on a bit since then, with women of color (WOC) feminist bloggers offering their thoughts on Full Frontal Feminism.

These two posts are a good starting point:

Truly Outrageous, "I'm a hardcore feminist. I swear."

Having Read The Fine Print......, "Imperative of the Life"

Additionally, Jill at team-blog Feministe has written a response to the criticisms of Full Frontal Feminism. The comment thread is pretty interesting. (Hat-tip to The Silence of Our Friends, who offers more links along with her perspective.)

Whether it's a book or a blog post, when you put your work in the public sphere you can expect criticism. Don't take it personally. In a way, it's a good sign: at least people care enough to engage with the work.

Melinda Casino also writes at Sour Duck.
