Hi Belinda,

> I like the green but am struggling to find the forums.

Yes, the forums are not easy to find - unfortunately.
Here's a link that may help:
http://www.blogher.com/forum

For what it's worth, these are some of the things I'd change:

1.) Rename "All posts" tab to "All other posts" and make it so that it would include all the forum posts (currently there are none!) as well as blog posts (the editors posts - which are already listed in the "Latest editors posts" - don't need to be listed twice and would not be shown) .
2.) Rename "Most viewed" tab to "All comments" (have a page that had all the comments in descending chronological order and showed the context of each comment).
3.) Rename "create content" tab to "post"
4.) use vBulletin or some other dedicated forum software for running the forums instead of Drupal
5.) fix the comments links so that they work on threads that span more than one page (like on this one for example!).

-Bob
http://www.bobafifi.com
Different topic, but a question...

I was just looking at the "I'm going to BlogHer!" button on my blog..

Are there any "I WENT to BlogHer" banners going around? I looked where I found the original one and didn't see anything.

I'm losing my mind trying to get this house packed - sorry if this should be obvious. *for me* it is not.

hugs!

Slowly getting use to it

I'm renowned for being challenged by change - bit of a family joke that if I don't create the change then I struggle with it!

I like the green but am struggling to find the forums.

The big Dove ad has tricked me a few times because I think it marks the end of the page and have gone off else where. I do find that size and placement of an ad too commercial (and would guess that only a large corporate could afford the spot, not a WAHM blogger).

I do know how much effort goes into making something happen so well done!

I've launched a new area on my website for Direct Sales Party Plan Resources at www.CreativelyBelle.com/business/party_plan as it ties in well with the business articles and internet marketing articles.

Hi kperfetto,

I've been thinking the same thing! :-)
DailyKos does that, though I'm not sure I like how they sell it -

Hate ads? Subscribe.

http://www.dailykos.com/

If I were an advertiser, I don't think I'd be too thrilled to see that message. On the other hand, DailyKos' traffic is through the roof so maybe they don't care what people like me think! :-)

I wouldn't be averse to paying a small monthly or yearly fee for an ad-free version of Blogher, like I do with Flickr and Last FM.

Hi Lisa,

> (What's your fave color, btw?)

The blue. The other colors are too fluorescent for my eyes - especially the 'salmon' - that sends me running for the back button!
For what it's worth, I'd like to see even more choices someday, ( a Mac OS blue theme might work) and higher contrast colors. Also, you can tell the designer I like those BlogHer logo watermarks at the top of the page - nice touch! :-)

Images on the front

The images are of BlogHer members. Their appearance right now is based on logging into the site the very first time, though that's not exactly right since my photo used to be there as member 22 but is not pages back, heh.

I've asked some questions about how these will populate in the future - maybe there will be a change to that. :-)

First impressions are great. I'll need more time to explore fully though. I especially like being able to create my own blog entry and have already done so! Just one question. The images of BlogHer members? on the homepage? Is that what they are? I'm not sure if these are recent visitors, all members or what.

I'm yet to explore RSS feeds of content.

Updating a weblink

If you find the BlogHer entry for the weblink aka "list a blog", and you are the one who submitted it, you should see an "edit button" in the top right corner of the weblink page. If you weren't the one who submitted the weblink, then you'll need to give us the change you want to make and we can do it for you.

I tracked down your original "list a blog" entry and there's actually no url attached to it to indicate you even have a blog. Weird. I would suggest you completely relist it.

Click Create Content (purple box in the top right corner), select List a Blog. Enter the correct data and submit. Once it's approved, it should appear in the Blog Lists on BlogHer.

RSS....

Some of the feeds are not working properly - but they are improving (I know this because I woke up to 500 BlogHer feeds in my reader this morning!)

Here are the feeds that are working for me:

Comment feed: http://www.blogher.com/crss
Forum feed: http://www.blogher.com/forum/blogher-news-forums-0/feed
All topic area feeds are working as well.

Homepage feed is not currently working without problems. I got some early morning feeds but nothing since then. I hope that's resolved soon... I need my feeds! It sounds like you need yours too, eh?

Thanks for your patience with us.

BlogHer's new site: You're invited to blog here!

Welcome back to an all-new BlogHer.org, everyone! You made it happen: Our beta site is now live with a number of the features requested by this community.
We couldn’t make every improvement, so we tried to stay true to our mission – to create opportunities for women who blog to gain more exposure and community for our blogs. BlogHer.org has been redesigned to help people find all 13,000+ of you members and the 10,000+ blogs you’ve listed on this site.
We’ve also tried to make it easier for you to use BlogHer’s services to get discovered. And I should note, right off the bat, that we have a lot of work to do to make this site accessible to everyone, especially the hearing and sight impaired communities. We will tackle that important project next.
Here’s a short list of some of the new superpowers members have. (Not a member? Register here) For the full list, you’ll find much more in our new section,Using this site, authored by the amazing Denise.

New ~ Blog here on BlogHer. We invite you to post some of your latest blogging and link to the rest back to your blog. (Remember, it’s our mission to drive traffic to you!) When you publish your blog post, you'll be able to find it on the front page immediately, in the "All Posts" tab. You'll also find it in the "All Posts" tab under the topic area(s) you selected. Thanks for blogging according to our community guidelines.

New ~ Add your blog and your blog URLs to your new profiles. Edit your profile by clicking on the purple “My Profile” button in the top right-hand corner of the page. Next, see the edit button? Go for it!

New ~ Add your blog RSS feed to your new profile to show off your latest headlines automagically to the rest of us.

New ~ Tag your posts and your profiles
Whether you’re posting a blog or updating your profile, you’ll be able to use tags to help people find you more easily and quickly. Why just post in Politics and News when you can also free tag your post YouTube CNN Anderson Cooper Election ’08 Debates Spin? Now look at the lower right-hand corner of the page – if you tag your profile, people can find you with this special profile search.

New ~ A comments feed – and a visual indicator on our homepage about who is commenting where. Again, thanks for joining the conversation and abiding by our community guidelines.

New ~ Topics pages link to blogs in that topic
See? These blog lists still aren’t as portable as we want them to be – but this is an important small step.

New~ ”Pick a color”
We decided to have a little fun re-skinning the site with bright colors (see the upper right-hand corner where you can try on different looks). What’s your favorite?

New~ A new idea for our tag line
: “The community for women who blog. You say it, we share it.”
In 2005, Elisa Camahort, Jory Des Jardins and I organized BlogHer’s first conference in response to the question, Where are the women bloggers?. When conference-goers asked us to organize a site to answer that question around the clock, BlogHer.org was born and our answer to the question -- “Where the Women Bloggers Are” -- became our tagline.
But two years later, that tagline feels a little off. Today blogging by women is so widespread that “Where the Women Bloggers Are” sounds a little like we ignore the zillions of other sites where women bloggers also are. When, in fact, BlogHer exists to drive attention to what women bloggers are doing everywhere.
That's the reasoning behind the updated tagline you see at the top of this page: We are a community for women who blog. (And our friends, regardless of their gender :) Our mission has never changed, and our vision is grand, but our commitment to all of us who blog here is this simple: You say it. We share it.
What do you think? A conversation has already started about the idea -- Bobafifi disagrees with our new description, but Terri987 agrees that the old tagline was “too literal.” I’d love your thoughts.

There’s more – but again, you’ll have to read Denise’s post, Using this site for the best information.
Not that we’re done. Far from it. Which is why, if you peek at the BlogHer logo, you'll see that we've tucked the word "BETA" next to our name. For those of you who don't work in the software field, a beta version of any product is the first version released for real-world testing.
Who knows – we may stay in permanent beta. That’ll give us the flexibility to continue to innovate. In the coming months, we’ll continue to do so with your help and support. Thank you, all of you who have offered advice, suggestions and aspirin during this process. Most special thank yous to Denise, who worked excruciating hours on this project.
And, above, all, our gratitude and congratulations to RD2, Inc., the firm responsible for our site design, development and launch. And to Haystack, developer of a great Drupal module for profiles.
Your shrines are under construction.
