One of my blogs, A Canadian in King Parakramabahu's Court, is all about my life, as a Canadian, in Sri Lanka, which I've been calling home for the last six years.

Sri Lankan life is so wildly different from life in Canada that there's always something to write about. And pictures - I take a lot of photos, possibly more than is healthy for anyone, and a lot of them seem to be of the cows wandering the streets, trotting through traffic, taking naps in front of large building or in the middle of busy intersections or... And the birds, and the lizards that lived on the roof of our last house or who wander through the neighborhood or visit my garden... Seriously, wildly different. :D

Hadn't heard the term placeblogging before, but it makes sense. And I can now call myself a placeblogger. :)

I blog almost exclusively about two places in Florida - Walt Disney World and Sanibel Island. I think it's fair to say that I'm very focused on these places. Yep, I think I'm a placeblogger!

Placeblogging is something that outside or in not only celebrates but is focused on supporting. A placeblog is an act of sustained attention to a particular place over time. It can be done by one person, a defined group of people, or in a way that’s open to community contribution. It’s not a newspaper, though it may contain random acts of journalism. It’s about the lived experience of a place.

I am blogging on my life in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I came to Honduras about a year ago, and I can't seem to leave. Not because I can't afford the plane ticket, but I got hooked on this place. I also write about missions, social justice, and stuff. When I am in New Orleans, I write about the food, the alligators, the climate, and anthing else going on in the Big Easy. I Learned Something New Today

I have learned something new today. I never knew about "placeblogging". I am fairly new to blogging and I am still learning new things everyday. My blog is mostly about my day to day experiences as an expat here in England. But after hearing about placeblogging, I think that I have done it sometimes without knowing it as I write sometimes about different places that I go to here in southwestern England and other areas. Thanks for this great new information about other options in blogging.

But so far I haven't blogged much about my hometown since I returned and since I started my current blog. New Orleans, La., is a place of interest to many people, but so much goes on here and there are so many issues since Katrina that I get overwhelmed. I feel like I can't go deep enough and remain within reasonable blog post lengths.

I think I'll check out some other bloggers who identify themselves as placebloggers to get some ideas.

Northern California is quite a large place

Now I know a little about place blogging. Thank you very much for informing me of a new term.

I suppose my What a Trip blog qualifies as place blogging as the subtitle to my blog, Travels from Northern California, is my home base.

Northern California is quite a large place, so I'll narrow down my favorities. Carmel is my happy place. I love the ocean and watching the sea otters roll and play in the waves. Wine country, Livermore, Napa, Sonoma, offer all of my favorite things; B&B's, fine dining, wine drinking and beautiful scenery. Lake Tahoe is a great place for a long weekend. The lake front houses in Rubicon Bay by Tehama are simply amazing, as are the antique Chris Craft wooden boats that ply the blue waters.
