Peru Earthquake Relief Efforts: Charities Helping Victims and How You Can Help

Last week, Erin Kotecki Vest reported on Blogher about the earthquake in Peru that killed hundreds. On her personal blog, she has continued her coverage with information about relief efforts and how to contribute. Her post "How You Can Help The Children of the Peru Earthquake" provides a pointer to UNICEF's call for contributions.

The Network for Good Blog offers a roundup of charities that are collecting donations to provide relief and support to victims. In the comments, there are other options for helping.

Over at the idealist.org, they recently released a new feature called "groups" which enables nonprofit activists to connect with like-minded people -- from finding a job to working on an issue of common concern. There is a group for people who are coordinating relief donations for the victims in Peru. You can learn more here.

With the earthquake in Peru last week, along with a series of unfortunate events both natural and man-made, charities can't help but ask themselves if they are ready for disaster. Trent Stamp has some advice.
