You are quite correct -- my name is indeed a play on the names of Henry Miller and his ultimate muse June, and Juno the Roman goddess. (I did start writing a whole long shpiel about the reasons behind the name, but it got too long, so I decided to make it a blog post in and of itself. Heh. See -- you inspire me!)

I'm unbelievably flattered and blushing all over to have been included in your list. What company I keep! What a great title! (Sex Goddess? *punches air with manicured fist*)

Thank you. Sincerely. Please keep reading.

Warmest --
Juno x

among these wonderful writers.

I love that living in NY has made it possible to meet so many dynamic, sex-positive men and women. Thanks too to Viviane for her phenomenal skills at making it all happen.

Now to check out the Renegade Goddess...haven't had the pleasure yet.

Sex bloggers 101: The adventurers and the chroniclers

Okay, I have a passion for sex bloggers. There’s a whole slew I read regularly and I look for new ones when I have time. It’s not just the juicy erotica they sometimes provide, or the pithy commentary on sex and gender politics, beliefs and social mores, it’s the idea of courageous and interesting people who are sharing their personal narratives, their personal journeys with the rest of us…uncut.

With that, here are some of my favorites, many of whom, interestingly enough, are based around New York (does this mean a veritable Harlem Renaissance of sexual experimentation?) I’ve deliberately chosen not to include bloggers who are writing with a more public and less cloaked identity, like Rachel Kramer Bussel, Susie Bright and Violet Blue—while I value their work incredibly, this post is about the people with secrets called their private lives and those who are on transformative journeys.

NOTE: These blogs have mature content and are NSFW, so manage your access accordingly, please.

THE WILD WOMAN: Urban Gypsy
Put together a suburban wife, a passive husband, a mid-life crisis and New York City and what do you get? In this case it’s Tess, who could be Carrie Bradshaw’s older sister—if her older sister had an active BDSM sex life, a don’t ask don’t tell relationship with her husband, and a firm commitment to pushing the boundaries. Reckless but wonderful writing.

THE SEXY SWINGER: Sex in the City, The Real Version
Wow, Selina is daring! Sex in the City the Real Version is loaded with adventures that make me start—three-somes, five-somes, fours-somes and all sorts of puppy piles happen to Selina and her group of sensation-hungry friends. Why not have sex and debate semiotics? The girl puts it out there, and she’s for real.

THE MARRIED EXPLORER: The Renegade Goddess
RG is another long-married middle-class woman who woke up one day and discovered she was bone dry when it came to feeling sexy, attractive and worthy of being touched. This blog is the sometimes breathless, always interesting account of her personal journey and the subsequent sharing of it with friends and family—the recent post about her 81 year old mom and her vibrator is priceless.

PANSEXUAL AND POLYAMOROUS: Curvaceous Dee
Dee is in an open relationship and has a bevy of much-loved regular partners. Smart and good-natured, she chronicles her love and lust life in this very sweet, sensual blog.

THE SEX GODDESS; Juno Henry
I like to think Juno Henry’s name is a play on both the Goddess Juno and June Miller, Henry Miller’s amazingly sexy first wife (played, with great effect, by Uma Thurman in the movie Henry and June) but Juno Henry’s writing is original, powerful smart—oh, did I mention it was also enticingly erotic? Yep, it is all that.

THE TOPPE: Sugarbutch
Another New Yorker, this lesbian feminist writer/sex educator has so much heart—and the daring and passion to make her chronicles very, very interesting. If Mick Jagger was a literary, 30-something woman, instead of whatever he’s become, Sinclair might be the one to get those comparisons—judging by this blog’s good ideas and juicy stories, she’s a rockstar.

THE GIRL NEXT DOOR: Stiletto Diaries
Shashta Gibson has done some powerful writing about feminism (she’s not into it) and strong women (she is one), but this blog is mostly personal diary entries and sexy fun, not a bad mix.

THE SEX MASTER: One Life, Take Two
Jefferson, Jefferson, Jefferson..where would sex blogging be without you? Not only is this the guy I started reading years ago when I was newly single (he’d just gotten divorced, too), but he’s gotten dozens of people—most of whom he’s been, uh, intimate with—to blog—and the Blogosphere is richer for it. The Superman of sex bloggers, no doubt and a true gentleman and free spirit.

THE CHRONICLER: Viviane’s Sex Carnival
If Jefferson is Superman, Viviane is somewhere between Lois Lane and Jimmy Olson. Called the Blog Mommy, the Tech Top, and the Doyenne,. Viviane’s smart web site about sexually focused news, toys and blog posts is just the start—this dynamo has organized all sort of events and lists. Read her and get plugged in, for sure.

THE SMART GUY: Sexual Spiritualist
An “ethical slut who loves to talk about sex,” “Adam” is another blogging New Yorker. The intelligence and the reflection in his posts about sex are thrilling, as is the honesty. A big must read for a superior male perspective.

Who are the sex and erotic bloggers that rock your world? List’em here, please.
