The assertion is that "a woman may think she wants to end a pregnancy, may even feel relief when she does, but she will suffer for it later. So the state has a duty to stop her".The U.S. Supreme Court cited this reasoning, that the government needs to protect women from themselves, last year in upholding a ban on a late-term abortions.

the range of issues confronting today's feminists is staggering - simultaneously depressing and motivating. this is a great reminder that we cannot ever be complacent.

people may say feminism is dead. i say it's needed now more than ever. because I can't conceive of depending on anyone but women to stand up for ourselves, in times like these.

The car's performance is merely hinted at by revving noises, a dork behind the wheel, and a toy devil robot with a deep voice saying something unintelligible. The 'performance' of which Mr. Bogusky is so enamored is less the car's and more a professed freedom—of car ownership (mobility), the open road (unfettered past), and a sort of masculine 'right of way,' which is, let's face it, a rejection of the feminine (not to put too fine a point on it). It is sexist, misanthropic, and passe."

Echidne of the Snakes, Volkswagen - The Sexist Car: "The reason for these ads is the fact that VWs are seen as girly cars in the U.S., and the company wants to have more men as customers… Do they really think that they can run ads dissing women without losing their women customers?"
