A combination

For me it was a combination of it being very personal and of having said it all before, over and over and over again. It didn't feel fresh and was feeling contrived and UNPERSONAL which I didn't really want to do.

I was never satisfied with either post I made and suspect I'll make another about choice in the weeks ahead. Still trying to get it right.

Thanks - I missed your comment, initially

Thanks, Pam, I missed your comment initially because I automatically check out the very tail of a comments thread for new comments.

You're spot-on: very personal, and you have to feel very, very sure and like you have *a right* to stand up and say what you believe in order to write a post like that.

At my blog on the day, I used semi-parody, and the conceit of gay chivalric cowboys, to make my point. It was only through their personna that I could say anything.

Thanks for your comment and thoughts, Stacyb.

(The idea was Jessica Valenti's, who blogs at Feministing.com and Bush v. Choice.)

Why it's hard to write about...

Just a theory, but I'd posit that the reason you're finding (You found? It's past now, yes?) this hard to write about is because it's Deeply Personal.

If you're me, you see this as one of the cornerstones as to why the Right To Choose belongs in the hands of the woman with the uterus - it's BECAUSE it's personal that this critical decision shouldn't be made by the gov't.

My .02. Not worth much, I'm sure.

Blog for Choice was a great

Blog for Choice was a great idea. The pro-choice community can really make a difference by pooling all of our blogging resources together to get the message out- even creating a "blogswarm" on the issues involving abortion and it's [likely] pending reversal- with the Alito nomination almost a shoe-in I had hoped to see more grass roots efforts via the web to send a message to members of Congress- I know there was a concentrated effort and 'Blog for Choice' was key in that effort, but it can be very hard to compete for attention/publicity in the blogosphere.

In the coming weeks, I think both the pro and anti choice bloggers will be very busy....

Tagging Blog for Choice

I don't know if there is an official tag - the ones I'm using are blogforchoice and bushvschoice

Like a technorati tag

For example, Technorati put out there to tag posts with "2006resolutions." So that became a known tag people used and people searched on to read blogger's resolutions.

So, I was just wondering if there was a specific tag being promoted to group the posts tomorrow under one tag.

Site admins can recommend

And such posts will be listed on the front page under "posts of note".

PS - Such decisions are editorial (Lisa, Elisa and Jory), and so it's not something I do.

For Choice

I'm all set with my blog entries but oddly enough found it incredibly difficult to write the first word.

I've talked about choice, I've debated choice, I've pondered my own choices and I've written about choice many many times in the past. Why was it so difficult to do this time? I don't know but I'm a little bit glad it was. I got to revisit some of my ideas and feelings rather than relying on the old arguments and the old ideas.

Blog for Choice Day: January 22, 2006

This is our chance to raise the profile of reproductive rights issues in the blogosphere and the media, and to let everyone know that a woman’s right to choose is not negotiable.

You can see who is participating in Blog for Choice Day at Bush v.
