What Is Our Middle School Administration Thinking?

I was wondering what I would right my first blog about. Well it hit me this week when I read an article on CNN and a blog posted by Michael Winter about the middle school girl who received two days detention for HUGGING! It hit me immediately.

Something is definitely wrong with our school systems as a whole.

In Illinois they are telling the children to be cold and not to show any affection. Then we have the middle school in Maine - handing out birth control to their students. No wonder our middle school girls are confused. I'm confused!

Maybe the school administration in Illinois believes that if they are strict enough about about their "no public display of affection" their students won't end up pregnant in high school. Or maybe the school in Maine can't control all of the hugging that they've decided to hand out birth control.

For what it's worth, I'd rather my daughter's school system condone hugs and kindness instead of birth control for middle school children!
