I would love to serve BlogHer Conference 2010 however you need. I own two work rooms that focus on residential and college dorm room draperies, window treatments, bedding, decor, etc, so I have a wide range of speaking options if you need. Please let me know how I can be of service. Would be honored to speak! Could you send information to my Director of Hip and Cool, Joie Campeaux, at joie@dormsuitedorm.com?

Best,

Sheri Corey, Designer and Owner, Sew Sheri Designs and Dorm Suite Dorm

Kris, re: waitlist

Hi Kris:

You are still on the waitlist, and we haven't gontten to your name yet.

I'd have to say that at this late date, it is not likely we will be able to get to your spot on the list. I would keep my eyes on Twitter to see if anyone needs to sell a ticket last minute. That often happens.

Sorry, and I hope we will see you next year!

liveblogger volunteer plus conference ideas

Hiya,

I am this week's BlogHer of the Week and just found out that the conference is SOON! I tried to regsiter and got on teh waitlist. BOOOOO!!!! Anyway, I'd love to volunteer to liveblog about hte conference, if you still need people. AND/or, I could lead/co-lead a session on profanity in blogging (profanity, you see, it is my specialty), or on blogging the urban parenting experience, or on the fine line between blogging for others' entertainment and blogging as an exercise in public masturbation (i.e. writing every detail about your life when it has no intrinsic value for anyone else). ORRRRR about what to keep private, what to divulge. thanks!
Room of Your Own Idea

Blog Life to Real Life: Um, I Didn't Picture You That Way

A frank discussion of the pleasures (or pains) after the keyboard becomes a hug.

You typed, (maybe) you talked: now you "meet." Then what?

Hosted by two bloggers who have never talked or "met" and know how you feel.

But we're open to suggestions. Typically we start sign-up sheets during registration, then have tables assigned during lunch.

I sent an email to Elisa and would cherish the opportunity. If I could get a Bloghership to go along with it would be mind blowing as Mr. Weasel is currently laid off.

I would love to speak! My job is actually doing blog optimization and I would love to speak about ways to increase the traffic to your blog and get yourself out there as an "expert" in your subject. I am also a newbie to the blog world as of this past year and would love to speak about how (along with optimazation) to get out into the blog world and make friends, connect with companies and promote your blog.

I'd be happy to speak or participated in panel BOF session, etc. - perhaps with some of my fellow bloggers at Green Options's Eco Child's Play or other Mommy-eco bloggers.

Don't know if anyone's interested in hearing me but I'd be interested in speaking - perhaps from the perspective of someone who started as a total newbie. I would also be interested in live blogging...

How to Participate in BlogHer Conferences

A key cornerstone of BlogHer's approach to conferences is to invite you and our entire community to participate! Here are some way in which you can join us:

*Open calls for speakers, session ideas and recommendations on same. (In other words, even if you don't want to speak, please forward us the people you would love to hear speak.)

*Room of Your Own sessions:
It's inevitable that the official BlogHer schedule will not include every topic of interest to BlogHer attendees. If you want to fill a hole, then propose a Room of Your Own session. These are sessions proposed and planned by BlogHer attendees. We provide the room, the A/V, the coffee...and the promotion. You provide the content. In 2006 we had so many Room of Your Own session proposals we put it to a community vote. The top 6 were added to the schedule. More on the Room of Your Own concept is here.

*Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions:
We set aside open time and blank clipboards and let people self-organize into groups. This post describes how we did it at BlogHer '06. Previous popular topics have ranged from "Mommies who use profanity in their blogs" to "Single bloggers" to "The Ethnorati" to "Flickr users" to "Food and Drink bloggers." Anything literally goes...you can form a group of 2 or 22 around your topic. It's a great way to break the ice and find like-minded individuals in the crowd.

*BlogHerships and volunteerism:
For each conference we provide blogherships (free conference registrations) in exchange for being an official conference live-blogger. This is a great option for bloggers who could not otherwise afford to attend. Other volunteer opportunities have included graphic design, IT consulting, audio production, sponsor, speaker or volunteer "wrangling" and so on. Some people were able to add their efforts to their CV; some people were able to learn or improve their skills; some people were able to meet a posse of people they would not have connected to on their own. Everyone was able to feel like they were a part of making BlogHer happen.

*Feedback, feedback, feedback:
Here at BlogHer we throw a lot of ideas out there and see what sticks. Subscribe to our conference newsletter or conference topic and keep track of what we're thinking as we plan the event. Let your voice be heard! (Provide subscribe links.)

If you have an opinion, we want to hear it!
