I Heartily Endorse This Philosophy

Seeing and doing The New Stuff - soooo good for the soul. I was once carefree enough to buy a round-the-world ticket and left for a year - so un-American! These days, I have to watch my pennies but that doesn't mean you can't go exploring in your own backyard, right? I'm still learning about my own country and it's really fun.

Meanwhile, I'm saving for a trip to Iceland in 2009 ...

Travel Resolutions 08

Smarter Travel posts family travel related resolutions. This is a good one:

Wherever we go, I'm going to find something for us to do that we've never done before.

Gadling suggests resolutions you should make, and they're good common sense choices.

Resolution 1: When you are traveling, let people know you are going and for about how long.
Resolution #2. Leave important documents with someone and instructions just in case there is a medical emergency.

There's another Gadling resolution post here.

Mary Jo at Flyaway Cafe reviewed her '07 travel resolutions - looks like she was quite successful! And Vagabonding has new resolutions including:

Visit a place I never imagined visiting, once at least every 3-months:
This year I traveled a lot, but more to see people than to visit
places. The only random new places I went to this year were Malmo, in
Sweden and Copenhagen. I'd like to resume my fondness for hiking this
year too. I only went on two treks this year, I want to plan more.

Every three months! Wow, that's ambitious.

Here's last year's BlogHer post about Travel Resolutions...how did you do?
