Having Fun With Voice Threads

Yesterday, I came across a great site called Voice Threads http://voicethreads.com which I really wanted to tell you all about. Basically it's a new tool which allows you to upload photos and videos which you can then leave voice comments on. I don't know about you, but the whole blogging phenomena seems to lack the warmth of a physical voice. Sure, there are podcasts; in fact, there are some truly excellent podcasts to be found. But, when I blog and others leave comments, to be honest, I miss the kind of closeness that you get from hearing another person's voice.
So, I've had a go at it, both on a (very) small project of my own, and a slightly more involved one with my children today, and I have to say that I am so impressed with it - hence, the need to share it with anyone who'll pay me the slightest attention! You can find both threads here: http://voicethread.com/#u33685.b39695.i208088 and http://voicethread.com/#u33685.b39992.i209929
Now, be kind, as I know they're not fantastic, but I'm still pretty pleased with them. I am also so excited about the possibilities of this. I'm planning all kinds of projects with my kids and on my own, which range from tours of my local area to scanning old photos and getting my grandparents to describe who's who. Quite literally, the possibilities are endless!
Why don't you have a go at it, and see how you get on. I've started a forum topic on it over at the Mommy and Family Forum, so if you do decide to give it a whirl, post a link to your own thread. I'd love to see what you come up with!
