Hi Amy. It will be very interesting to see how this whole delegate thing shakes out. Over 1.5 million Democrats voted in Florida...I think we deserve to be represented. If not, I believe this will ultimately hurt the democratic nominee in FL.

Bloggers React To The Florida Primary and Disenfranchised Voters

Today was the long awaited, and highly controversial Florida primary. In the end McCain would defeat Romney, leaving Giuliani in the Republican dust. Hillary Clinton would win on the Democratic side, and even dare to come to Florida and deliver a victory speech.

But, let's take a closer look at what was happening in the blogosphere earlier today...

My blogging friend Kay B. Day of Covering Florida, was asked to contribute commentary to Sky News on the Florida primaries. Here is an excerpt of that commentary...

Most Floridians agree this is the most interesting primary we’ve experienced.

For one thing, both major political parties in the United States are beyond miffed at The Sunshine State. Our legislature voted to move our primary ahead. Net result: no Democratic delegates will be seated and only half the Republican delegates will be seated. -- read the rest of Kay's article at Sky News

Whenever I need to know something about Florida, I always check Kay's blog first. Sure enough, we were both on the same page today...It was a beautiful day in Florida for a primary. I even took the liberty of borrowing the photo she used on her post, for the post I did today on being a disenfranchised voter in Florida...

I was soooo happy to go and vote today. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and by the time I left to go vote it was about 70 degrees. I rolled down the windows and let the fresh air blow on my face, while I drove over to my polling place. The whole time I was thinking to myself, "You are such a lucky girl Catherine" - I wouldn't want to be a disenfranchised voter anywhere else. Asthma Mom wrote Go Ahead, Disenfranchise Me...

Writing about anything other than the election feels like a waste of time today, on my state’s primary day.

You’d think I’d feel especially powerful with my U.S. citizenship and my right to vote and my residency in this crucial state of Florida, wouldn’t you? I don’t, though, because I’m a Democrat.

While I hate in theory the way my state lost its delegates and the way my vote therefore most likely counts for nothing, in actual practice I’m sort of relieved. See, I don’t actually have a clear choice yet between my two party’s frontrunners. -- read full post at Asthma Mom

There has been a lot of talk about whether or not delegates in Florida may actually get counted, and I came across this interesting (and hopeful) post at a Florida blog called Blast Off!

...according to party rules, the final decision on whether delegations are seated is made not by party officials, but by the putative nominee. Rest assured that John Edwards or Hillarack Obanton would never risk alienating the voters of a large, crucial swing state by following some stupid party threat. The delegates will be seated, and they will cast their votes in Denver. Trust me. -- read the full post at Blast Off

Teresa from the Palm Beach Post Blog wrote Oops! Wrong Precinct...

Hundreds of voters mistakenly reported to the Port St. Lucie community center to vote because that was the site of early voting the past two weeks. Many confused voters said they didn’t receive new voter cards this year and weren’t sure where to cast their ballots.

“They’ve been voting here, so I thought I could come,” said 85-year-old Patricia Johnson of Port St. Lucie, who was sent to a church on Prima Vista Boulevard across town to vote. “I’ve always voted Republican, but I’d like to switch and vote for (Barack) Obama. I guess I’ll vote for (John) McCain, but he’s a little old.”

A few minutes behind her at the community center, John and Paula Jagodzinski were told they, too, were at the wrong precinct.
