When I started my website, my husband wanted me to host it on his cousin's server instead of hosting through Wordpress. Fine. Whatever. I'm not a technical person (translation: I'm a computer idiot), so that kind of detail doesn't really register with me. It doesn't register with me, that is, when things ARE WORKING LIKE THEY SHOULD.</p> <p>Last night, my husband's cousin did something and crashed the server. I mean, completely. My husband is, of course, out of town right now and cannot fix it. His cousin doesn't know how to fix it. I don't even know what a server actually IS, so there's no chance that I can fix it. So, just as I was starting to get regular readers, my website is COMPLETELY down and I have no way to let people know that I haven't abandoned it, I'm just having technical problems.</p> <p>I feel so... helpless. I hate that feeling. My husband has always managed all of the technical stuff for my website, but NO MORE. I want to learn how to do it myself so that I never feel like this again. I should be back online in a few days--by the weekend at the latest(such a long time to be down!), and I know this isn't the end of the world but I just can't believe that I--who am typically very self-reliant and borderline controlling--put myself in this position.</p> <p>What about other bloggers? Do you understand the ins and outs of HTML and CSS? Do you manage the technical aspects of your website yourself?
