My response to Management Professor Notes II

Management Professor Notes II linked to my post, "These Sneakers Were Made For Walking," and posted a very good question on her blog:

How do company values affect consumer behavior?

I left my two bits:

As an avid consumer -- with four children who seem to be growing out of, well...everything...at a mind-boggling rate -- I find that our family is typically influenced by a "good buy" before that of "a good sell."

And I would venture to guess that most consumers, like me, realize that big companies, like Reebok, are in the business...to make a profit.

But, it's when companies show that they, too, can take heart by being a little more socially conscious that gets my attention, most everytime.

And, perhaps even my business.

And if that's merely a blip...then other companies best get on the radar, because there are consumers out there (**waving**) who'd be more than happy to spend a little more on a company that shows it cares, especially when it's for a good cause.

How do company values affect consumer behavior -- any other thoughts?

---------------------------------------------------
These Sneakers Were Made For Walking!

What do you get when you cross a good pair of sneakers with a damn-fine-worthy cause?

Footwear that really "does" make a difference!

If you're interested to learn what's hot in athletic footwear...come on in...and walk this way!

[tries to act casual after pulling a hamstring]

At first glance, this Sporty Beach casual shoe from Reebok looks cute and everything -- especially the color! -- but after further research and going deeper into my quest for "the perfect sneaker", I've come across an extraordinary company that is making great strides towards creating footwear that is not only stylish and comfortably priced, but helps spread the meaning behind the "Power of Pink!"

Fashion Week Daily reported that The Avon Foundation has announced Reebok will serve as the official footwear sponsor for the 2006 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Series.

"Reebok's strong heritage in walking, coupled with our desire to encourage consumers to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle make us a natural fit as the official footwear sponsor of the Avon Walk," said Marcy Schwam, Reebok's global director of walking.

The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer 2006 schedule includes:

Washington, D.C. April 29-30
Boston, MA May 20-21
Chicago, IL June 3-4
Denver , CO June 24-25
San Francisco , CA July 8-9
Los Angeles, CA September 16-17
New York, NY October 7-8
Charlotte, NC October 21-22

As a national sponsor, Reebok will provide t-shirts for all walkers and volunteers and will offer complimentary foot scans to determine participants' walking shoe needs.

Every year, Reebok sponsors many events in the world of sports, fitness, and entertainment. You can check here to see a listing of all upcoming events.
