This was a great tidbit. It's so fantastic to see such a good role model in the traditionally "anorexically-thin" world of pageants. Good for her. I hope the industry doesn't eventually make her sucumb to something she isn't (or doesn't want to be).

Desperately Seeking Role Models

I love stories like this. Working with parents and girls on thriving at any size, it can be challenging to convince young people that it is indeed possible to be loved, successful, happy, and thriving when you're not a size 0. Of course-- where are the role models that show us that it's possble? Yes, we see the one show, news story, or magazine article depicting someone who is plus size but inevitably, the 100 other shows, stories, and articles depict impossibly thin girls and women-- retouched to make them even more "perfect." As a coach, I here stories often about the girl or young women who is striving for perfect even though it doesn't exist.

That's why it's so important for women like Chloe Marshall and others in the spotlight to step up and say; "I'm happy, successful, and amazing just the way I am...really!" And ya know what? I'm in the finals for Miss England. So others see it too."

this news couldn't come at a better time.

Just don't let anyone retouch her photos and make her thinner like they did to Kate Winslet...come on now-- she really is beautiful just the way she is.

Miss England hopeful, Chloe Marshall, has made it to the finals!
She is 5' 10" and weighs 176 lbs.

Chloe on her positive body image:
"People
seem desperate to get me to say that I don't, that deep down I'm not
happy and would rather be thin, but the fact is I wouldn't change
myself at all."

Chloe on fitness:
"I'm a size 16, I eat well, I exercise regularly – I jog, swim, and work out with weights. "

Chloe on her reasons for entering the contest:
"What I am promoting is a healthy girl who looks after herself and doesn't try to force her body to be something its not."

"I want to show it is possible to be beautiful and not a standard size zero."
