Those knitters in Gainesville ROCK. Unfortunately I've missed both of their sleepovers due to kid stuff. HMPH And uh, does it say something about me or the LYS owners and the Gainesville knitters that I'm disgruntled about missing a LYS sleepover and I'm not even a knitter?

I'd like you to meet Mirta. I love that her new job came complete with some plastic surgery to give her a different face, but she's still kickin' it with really cute (fabric) shoes!

She used to be a Barbie but then Natalie didn't want her anymore so I helped her find a new job. She is very helpful in my studio. Natalie thinks that this is just a new girl and she is indeed, gone are the days when Barbie was all about the way she looked. Mirta is now more interested in seeing how many pins she can hold on her head.

While I had a productive but boring week (details below), others were having lots of crafty fun!

I wish I had been at Sock Camp with the Yarn Harlot. When she listed the 10 things she loves about sock camp, she wrote one that many of us can understand:

3. Campers. I'm spending 5 days with knitters. For five days I will only walk among my people. For five days nobody will say "don't you think that's a lot of yarn" or "how many pairs is that on the needles now?" For five days I will talk about socks, and nobody will try to get away, because everyone here wants to talk about socks. A lot.

If I lived in Gainesville, Fla., I could have gone to the slumber party at Hanks Yarn.

A great time was had by everyone! We had ice cream, clogging, temporary tattoos, gallons of drink and tons of food, a great contest involving Hanks and Henrys, and a really wonderful, fantastic, amazing crowd of people. And clearly we need a bigger shop so that we can invite more next time!

But I can still choose to Scrap My Day on the25th...

Other Crafty fun:

Calamity Kim has a major Flickr crush on Danny Mansmith. Check out how he inspired her to make this art quilt.

An issue I finally faced this week: I parted with most of my quilting stash, admitting that since it's lived in the garage for 6 months, it likely doesn't need to come back into the house ever. The goods will be used for Blankies for GrownUps..

The unclutterer addressed this issue in Saying farewell to a hobby.

It can be difficult to admit, but if you’re not averaging at least an
hour a month pursuing a hobby, it’s time to let it go. The space you’re
sacrificing in your home is too valuable to store things you don’t use.
If you don’t have storage issues, it’s still worthwhile to get rid of
your unused hobby stuff. Every time you walk past it I bet you think,
“I wish I had more time to do X.” You don’t need that stress and guilt.
If it were really important to you, you would pursue it.

All was not lost, however. I got a dozen t-shirts prepped for dyeing, lengthened another pair of jeans (are they shrinking in the wash? I have not grown.), sewed a new zipper in a hoodie, shortened a pair a shorts, and started sewing a dress I'll wear to one of the BlogHer cocktail parties in July. This week I hope to continue to whittle down that "mending" pile a bit more and maybe even cast-on a summer sweater or a pair of socks.

How was your crafty week past or what plans do you have for the crafty week ahead?
