I added the widget to my sidebar, but I have 2 questions, which I am going to ask here, since I'm not sure where else to ask them:

1. There was a smaller widget - I would prefer to use that in my blog - where can I find it?

2. Any chance of the widget becoming customizable color-wise, or is it one-size-fits-all type widget?

I give myself an "allowance" for fun stuff: searching for used DVDs of movies I like, going out to lunch, getting my eyebrows waxed..

And once a month I figure out what I spent on fun and just give the rest to Global Giving through the buttons. This month, no time search those DVDs, so Global Giving got lucky!

I'm thinking my next donation will happen in the days before I move to Illinois. All of those jars of change that have been accumulating around the house in the six years I've lived here... they're going to the bank and from there to one of these projects.

I just spent $2,200 in the blink of an eye...easiest money I ever spent.

If you're thinking it looks like the amount jumped a bit since you last checked it out, you would be right. As per Lisa's post last week, we kept track of which of our six projects garnered the most donations over the last week before Mother's Day. Today I'm here to announce three things:

1. The charitable project that had the most people donate over the week before Mother's Day was The GlobalGiving Relief Fund for Myanmar Cyclone victims. Consequently this project received a $1,000 matching donation from BlogHer this morning.

2. Also as discussed in Lisa's post, BlogHer donated $200 each to our other 5 maternal health projects:

Our Maternal Health Projects:

* Mother and Child Clinic in Nepal: $10 - 2 days' operating costs for the Clinic OR a year's worth of care for 5 women and children

* Help Afghan Women Deliver Healthy Babies Safely: $25 - 20 women will have improved quality of life through reproductive healthcare and education

* Ensure Healthcare for 40,000+ Displaced Darfurians: $25 - Trains 2 Traditional Birthing Attendants (includes 3 training sessions and training materials)

* Empower Women to End HIV/AIDS Stigma, South Africa: $50 - 2 women living with HIV/AIDS can receive counseling

* Noon Meal Improves Girls' Learning in Burkina Faso: $15 - Provides a noon meal for 50 students for one day.

3. Finally, we have decided, given the urgency of the situation in Myanmar, and sadly now also in China, to keep this fundraising initiative alive and running until further notice. As HerBadMother blogged this morning, the situation in China is dire. Given that, we did indeed add the Half the Sky Children's Earthquake Relief Fund to our list of BlogHers Act projects, and kicked it off with a $200 donation this morning.

I know exactly how HerBadMother felt when she said: "I can barely stand to open the newspaper or follow the news links because I know that I'm going to have to hold my breath and press my fists to my eyes to keep from crying." Taking action, even small action, feels good. We know that many of you have already blogged this, added the widget to your sidebars, donated and more. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We hope extending this program will help us continue to pitch in and help where we all can, from amounts as low as $10 to anything you can spare.
