This is great info and I plan to share it with my readers. Thanks for passing this along to the bloghers. I have advised my readers many times to get educated and add to their skill set. Information is power and you never know when or what tools you will need to use.

I observed much the same a few months ago and wrote about it in my blog on pingVision MIT paves the way.

There was a similar revolution when radio broke on the scene about a century ago. Pundits predicted the demise of the university system and today there are University Presidents and Chancellors who are puzzling out if universities will survive "free education."

I agree with you, Karen, when you write, "Though you won't obtain a degree, you may get something much more valuable."

I think this is only the beginning and as infrastructure of the internet grows, the amount of information will grow too. Already we see the slow-down (to put it nicely) of Blockbuster video.

What tradition means of distributions is next, history will show. In the meantime there is lots of rich content out there.

Continuous learning seems to be the hobby of choice for many of us. Though nothing new, MIT offers Open CourseWare, free to the world for all to learn. There are more than 12,500 courses listed, and links to other Open Source programs online. Though you won't obtain a degree, you may get something much more valuable.
