I just wanted to post and say that I am really impressed by the fast response to this issue. I am enjoying Blogher and learning more about how to use the site, and how to meet folks and thinking of how I could possibly attend the conference in 09. I think you guys are just rad.

Our thanks go to the entire team. I'm the "squeaky wheel" who lets the team know there's a problem and passes on the information that you provide so that they can figure out what the problem is. I'm a good squeaky wheel. :-)

Kudos to Denise for attentive responses to this issue! (For those of you who don't know -- I did drop Denise an email as she suggested, and she responsed almost instantly, and continued responding and updating me for the next couple days - and this morning found the ad that apparently was causing all the trouble and killed it. now that's what I call great IT support!)

Freezing

The freezing is new, and we're trying to get to the root of the problem. We saw a few people talking about slowness and freezing on Wednesday, and since then we've heard a few more reports everyday.

We're trying to determine the cause of this issue and you can help!

I've been very frustrated by that too -- in my case it's even worse, as often the pages crash altogether and I don't get them to load at all.

Which kind of defeats the purpose.

Hi BlogHer staff folks,

Well, eleven & a half years of blogging and I finally got around to registering here at BlogHer and hanging around the site a while tonight.

I really enjoyed my stay and love the site but... I don't know if I can come back again, or very often anyway.

The amount of Java and (I assume, I didn't look that close) Flash here is terribly, terribly overwhelming. All the pretty little widgets are very nice and all, but nothing makes me want to bang my head against the desk bloody more than pages that take 60-180 seconds to load and pretty graphics and nice scripts that freeze my cursor up for two to five minutes over and over again.

Your site has pretty much brought my browser about to it's knees tonight, even from the beginning when I hit the first page. My machine's not that old, browser & Java & Flash & everything else is completely up to date.

Sites with this much stuff on them that hang up pages are generally the ones I don't bookmark and never come back to again. Again, I really, really enjoyed my stay here (even though it was probably about two hours longer than it should have been due to repeated waiting for pages to load and my cursor to unfreeze again) and I'll try not to give up on BlogHer totally... but I don't know if my sanity can take visiting here too often.

I'm a techie too and even though I use ready-made for blogging these days, I've built my fair share of sites and pages in the last 15 years and I love cool website stuff, yeah... but I also like pages that load fast, or at least don't take over 60 seconds to do so. Ya know?

Just my $0.02... it's all very nice and pretty, but gosh guys, it's a little much. My head can only take so much banging on the desk.
