We're rushing toward Labor Day, which is the official end of summer; it's nearly time to wash the beach towels and pack away the pool bag.

Just don't pack your sunscreen up -- you're going to need that, every single day, for the rest of your life. I am entirely serious. The only thing that damages your skin more than unmitigated sun exposure is smoking -- and if you're smoking AND skipping sunscreen? Girl, we need to talk.

I can't overstate how important it is to wear sunscreen on your face, every day. Don't rely on foundation or mineral makeup with SPF; you rarely cover your ENTIRE face with foundation, and makeup of all types tends to slide around during the day, leaving you exposed. Pick a moisturizer (and ideally an eye cream) with an SPF of at least 30 and put it on EVERY SINGLE MORNING, regardless of the weather or your plans for the day; look for formulas that will last, with either titanium dioxide or helioplex, to carry you through the day. I am partial to Clinique's Super City Block, which comes in an oil-free SPF 40 formula; it works like a lightly tinted moisturizer on my very oily skin, and protects me from the sun while also standing in for foundation.

Patting yourself on the back because you're already wearing a daily SPF moisturizer on your face? Good work. However, your face isn't the only part of your body that needs daily sun protection; your hands and chest also need to be protected from the environment. Even if your face is wrinkle-free, lines on your hands and cleavage will make you look older than you are; keep them both covered up. That doesn't mean gloves and turtlenecks, though -- choose the right products and you will look younger all over.
