My life is never dull. Anyone who doesn't believe me, can just hang out with me for a few days.

I am just one of those people. Things just happen to me.

For years I thought it was because of my line of work. As a field reporter I was thrown into many situations most people would never see- from crime scenes to red carpets.

However, it's been 6 years now since I worked at a traditional news station, yet here I am in the Mile High City, trying to explain to BlogHer why we are missing our rental car.

BlogHer Contributing Editor Maria Niles and I made our way back from the Pepsi Center last night just before Joe Biden's speech. Our big idea was to beat the traffic and get in bed early.

After passing the likes of Mad Men's Roger Slattery and a man selling a watch yelling "What time is it? OBAMA TIME!" We made it to our parking structure.

Except it was surrounded by yellow crime tape and being guarded by large men with machine guns.

Huh.

Two members of Denver PD's bomb squad joked with us a bit. They told us to come back in a little while, they weren't sure how long the 'incident' was going to take. 'Might be 10 minutes, might be an hour.'

Of course we heard that Obama might be traveling to Pepsi and with the security all around my first instinct was to quiz the officers.

They weren't telling us much, other than it wasn't as 'exciting' as someone's motorcade driving by.

So exhausted and defeated, Maria and I walked back to the Big Tent...which turned into a sprint when word came in Senator Obama was entering Pepsi Center. We managed to make it to see his words, said hello to a few people, and then walked back down to see how our poor rental car was doing trapped inside yellow crime tape.

Turns out they were blocking off more of the street. Stopping the buses and traffic going back and forth and sending all of us on our feet further away.

Lovely. It's about now the only thing I want more than a helicopter is my hotel bed.

About 10 phone calls and a few decisions later, we decided poor Renty was going to have to stay the night behind the yellow tape alone, because we weren't waiting for it. I quickly sent an email to BlogHer managers, explaining the situation and apologizing just in case their rental car blew up.

Maria and I boarded a very crowded shuttle and made our way to the opposite end of downtown. We were really going that way to hitch a ride from friends, but as soon as word came in an 'explosion' was heard, I was glad we were no where near the action.

The bomb squad blew up a suspicious package, and our rental car had a front row seat.

What will tonight hold as we join 75-thousand others in Mile High Stadium? Who knows, but one thing is for sure...it won't be boring.
