I concur. Don't get me wrong _ I love fall apples and pears. But I LOVE peaches, plums and pluots. It's always sad to see them fade from the farmers' markets. You know summer is really over then. But all good things in life have to come to an end...well, at least until NEXT summer.

The Fruits of Fall: Plums

"I’m not handling this very well. I don’t want summer to be almost over. I don’t care that I love fall; I love even more not having to wear jackets and toe-covering shoes and socks. I hate socks most of all. Everyone knows that fall is abundantly short-lived and all of a sudden you’re catapulted into the longest, winter ever, and … I’m not ready." (Smitten Kitchen)

What makes fall worthwhile for so many of us? Fall baking, of course! Read Dimply Plum Cake from Smitten Kitchen, starring the orbs of fruit called plums, the purple, red, golden, garnet, bruised-blue stone fruits that ride the cusp of summer and fall. Let's see what else we can do with plums, piles of plump and pretty plums.
