Tights are definitely IN right now! From latex and leather to black lace. If you mix and match tights with a nice tunic top or cute skirt or or short dress with maybe say ankle boots you'll be on your way. Singer22 and Revolve Clothing have some great black lace tights if anyone is interested.

I love tights. Black opaque tights. No patterns thank you very much!

They're not particularly thick, so they're not like long johns

They look just like ordinary tights. But they're much warmer.

Of course, you can get cableknit wool tights, but that's a little crafts-tastic. If you're going to wear cableknit tights, you might as well get some knitting blogger to knit you some. Because I'll bet there's someone out there who could do it.

but I like patterned tights--diamonds, herringbone, dots.

What I can't stand is white hose. Is anyone out there old enough to remember that '80s fad? It was AWFUL. Worse than white shoes!

Way back in the late 80s or early 90s I splurged on a pair of Ralph Lauren tights. To this day they still have their shape and look fabulous! Too bad it doesn't get cold where I live. But I'll still keep them forever.

Brrr-rrr-rrr-ing on the tights! All the better to hide my winter, pasty white legs and vericose veins. Ooh, and spandex - all the better to repackage and reposition what God gave me (even if he was joking). For once, I have to agree with fashion!

I don't want to guilt-trip you, Internet, but do you know how much a stack of September fashion magazines costs? Or how heavy they are? I wanted to edumacate myself on trends for Fall, 2008, so I bought a bunch and hauled them home. And got a hernia. And now it turns out that hauling fashion magazines around doesn't even count for Weight Watchers activity points, even though it should.

Yes, far be it from me to utter the dreaded word "pantyhose," but tights are definitely back in style. However, things have changed in the past 15 years.

Here's what you need to know about tights 2.0: Spandex is now a crucial factor. With two percent spandex, tights won't wrinkle or sag. With eight percent Spandex, they'll make you feel quite Wonder Womanly. Anything more than eight percent Spandex counts as "bodywear."

Since Spandex will keep your tights from puddling around your ankles, you don't need to worry about tights being too big. Feel free to go up a size if like me, you're short-waisted and long-legged. But keep your tights out of the dryer--Spandex and dryers don't mix.

Target has a nice assortment of textured tights, and the price is right.

And for those of you who live in the frozen north, Vermont Country Store has some ribbed, wool-blend tights that are so incredibly warm and soft, you'll wonder how anyone managed to talk you into going out bare legged after Labor Day.
